“Despite averaging 2.7 million downloads a week, holding 70 percent of the legal music-download market share, and boasting the Web’s largest legal download catalog with more than 700,000 songs, you can’t accuse Apple’s iTunes Music Store of resting on its laurels,” Tim Moynihan witres for TechTV.com. “Songs still cost only 99 cents a pop. Today our Dark Tipper, Kevin Rose, will take a look at the new features on ‘The Screen Savers.'”
Watch today at 7 p.m. and tomorrow at 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. Eastern.

Why bother? A non-review short list of iTunes new features one day everybody else has already reported on them.
Because this a nationally broadcasted TV show, not a website a lot of people don’t know about.
Besides, it’s free publicity for iTunes and the iTMS!! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
I love TechTV!
I work at TechTV and Rose, who is not a Machead, gives pretty good insight on new technology and is pretty fair and balanced. Unlike another on air personality we had a few years back…John Dvorak.
Kevin Rose is a great addition to Screensavers. Not as much of a Machead as Leo was, but gives them a fair shake and showcases them (Kismac, for instance) when possible.
Kevin is a *nixhead, as evidenced by his stuff over at thebroken.org. But iTunes, the iTMS, and iPods are not exclusively Mac products…just made by the largest Mac business. Since the iTMS is the largest online music store, it affects the pop culture, and that’s what TechTV’s The Screen Savers is all about.
I’ve had a day to play with this thing, and I’m still getting into what has changed, and how I can get FREE SONGS!!!! Whoo Hooo! Pirate flags for everybody!!!! And I can get the album cover to them songs. And print them. And there’s probably something else I can do to them that I haven’t figured out yet.
What I’m thinking is, that Kevin is already looking to mess with what iTunes says you can do and what you can actually get it to do. Already we know that most of the cracks (PlayFair and the like) are patched. But the integration with non-DRM WiMP files opens another door to get into White-Hat Land….
anyone know why Leo left Screensavers? miss a pro-mac presence on the show.
Leo left to do Call For Help because they tape it 2 days a week and he can spend more time with his family. Complete story at his website leoville.com

Any exposure is good exposure…there is nothing really to compare ITMS 4.5 to, so it’s hard to poop, but I’m sure they’ll find a way.
I love TechTV also, but I dislike very much the lady with the bad haircut who used to make all the anti-Mac slurs…think she’s moved to another spinoff within the show now. The new lady now seems more optimistic, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s not hard to look at.
Kevin has shown off his iPOD mini on many occasions, he deffinatly is pro mac brand.
What is this TechTV you speak of? (Not available in Seattle!)
I don’t agree with the comment that Apple is no longer a computer company but a multimedia giant instead. – iTunes is one of the successful project Apple has lead and just like the rest, it remains a computer company as it makes excellent hardware.
interesting little video report but it’s too ET like or Nightly news with Tom Brokow…. Actually, it’s just as bad as weird music video.
Peace
The Screensavers is such a dumb (literally dumb) program. They barely scratch the surface on anything they review.
Leo used to be the most annoying interviewer… he would constantly interupt someone right after he asked them a question. It seemed he would never let anyone talk (but himself, of course)!
Bleh… waste of TV airwaves.
In other news, Apple’s problems with iPod pale in comparison to Microsoft’s problems with its software patches.

I always marvel at how stupid people are when it comes to computers. TechTV and Cnet are the Dumb and Dumber of IT.
