  1. I pulled down the demo program and am now trying to convert my existing databases from fmp6 to fmp7. I ordered the developer version today because I’ve found that the changes are significant and some of my scripts are not working. May it is because I haven’t learned enough about the conversion tools. I also use, extensively, the troi plugins and don’t yet have anything definitive about compatibility. Their site says nothing about it. Overall, the update seems to provide a significantly better set of database tools. But, it looks like I have a lot of work adhead of me to switch my existing applications over the the new version.

  2. About time. I’ve been waiting for FMP7 for almost two years. FileMaker 6 was supposed to be a short-term introduction, but I guess it took far longer to add the new functionality than they expected. I’m super excited. I just converted one of my client’s projects so I can start playing with it. I’m hoping to drastically reduce the number of relationships, so I can speed up reports and queries on large files.

  3. OK, no JDBC support (yet, but why is it late at all!!?) You can’t drag a graphic file from the Finder to FM in layout mode; you have to use Insert>picture nave and select….
The buttons look like OS 8 still! Come on, why no glorious aqua buttons? This feels like a bad Microsoft port… Maybe FileMaker’s programers need to attend the WWDC with out their IBM ThinkPads this year.

  4. Why do Apple rip off its overseas customers all the time? Just look at this:

    N America upgrade is $149 – convert to GB today that’s 81.

Go to Filemaker UK and the price becomes….GB140…or $255!

What can be their justification for this difference for a software download? They can count me out as I’ll stick with Excel.
