Sorry about previously posting that Apple had exceeded Dell’s market cap. Apparently Forbes share data is old. Looking at CBS Marketwatch, Apple has 842.77M shares and a market cap of about $69B. Dell has 2.35B shares and a market cap of about $72.5B, as of around 3:30pm ET.
Either way, Apple, is getting closer, and closer.
When is the OS X update going online? Jobs annnounced it in the middle of the day, and it’s not up five hours later.
I presume that 10.4.4 is for Intel machines only.
The London Apple Store is easily the best looking facade they have. No wonder Steve uses it in Keynotes.
I don’t think 10.4.4 would only be for the new macs, which aren’t even out yet. They are intel native, I think, meaning this update was probably optimized for the new intel machines. I’m sure that the software will also be available for us PowerPC folk as well. Either that or Steve has left us high and dry on the intel road, but would he really do that to us? I hope not…

running 10.4.4 now on my 1ghz G4 iBook. No probs so far and it seems a little zippier.
Dudes, I hooked the powerbook to my HDTV and watched the whole of the webcast on my telly. Barely skipped a beat. The quality was similar to an iPod video on HDTV. Not bad considering this was streaming video. That’s the first time I’ve been able to watch the keynote without interruption. I think QT is finally get close to being really useful for video streaming. Just a bit more resolution and we’re be there.
BTW – my next mac is a MacBook Pro
Unfortunately, my experience wasn’t as good. I’ve got a PowerBook 17″ with a T1 at the Office and DSL Extreme at the house and had multiple interuptions trying to watch the keynote. Even after adjusting the QT preferences, I had no luck!
While the technology is amazing and has come a long way… Doesn’t anyone else think that this QT streaming solution is a bit embarrasing for Apple considering their obvious interests in Audio & Video.
I would have much preferred downloading the presentation… I’d even pay for it through iTunes????

Same problem. Multiple issues with the streaming. I was actually looking forward to downloading the keynote to my ipod so I could watch anywhere. Looks like you can save the file if you have QT Pro. I haven’t found a reason to upgrade yet and although I would have paid a nominal fee for the convience of watching on the ipod, $29.99 seems a bit steep.

Everyone, his brothers and cousins wants to see what Steve had to announce. If Apple dedicated every XServe they ever made to the task it still wouldn’t be enough to serve everyone who wants to see his Keynote. (OK, maybe I exaggerated that a little.)
So either..
1) Put up with the delays or
2) Wait a couple days and the demand on the server will go down.
