Apple has posted their new Intel Mac ad online via Quicktime. The ad shows Intel workers in a clean room and shots of Intel wafers in production with the (Kelsey Grammer? Kiefer Sutherland?) voiceover:
The Intel chip. For years it’s been trapped inside PCs. Inside dull little boxes. Dutifully performing dull little tasks when it could have been doing so much more.
Starting today, the Intel chip will be set free and get to live life inside a Mac. Imagine the possibilities.
The ad closes with a shot of Apple’s new Intel-based iMac.
See the ad here.
[UPDATE: 3:22pm EST: Added voiceover credit question of Kiefer Sutherland.]

I am partyin’ sooooo hard!!!!
hum … not that impressive.
Great ad … and a Mac ad too … that’s progress.
They need to advertise the OS and the Ilife/Iwork apps funtionality.
In the new iTunes, if you disable Music Store and then enable it again, the Music Store window frame goes away.
Brilliant. Sheer class.
Does anyone know the name of the background music? I’ve been wanting to know what that is for AGES…
That’s not Kelsey Grammer by the way.
here’s the keynote!!

That would be a Kiefer Sutherland narration, btw…
The voiceover is Kiefer Sutherland. No idea on the music.
thanx poj and loki capret…
I stand corrected
Guess I got a little too pumped …. sorry for the inconvienence !
Hmm. Nice sly repetitions of ‘inside’ in the voiceover– but no ‘Intel Inside’ badging, of course.
The voiceover in the ad is Kiefer Sutherland (from 24 fame).
Ryan
shouldn’t that be “big dull boxes” instead “dull little boxes” ?type
is that keifer sutherland?
Love that ad. Love it love it. I think it also indicates an upcoming aggressive ad campaign.
and the music btw is Moby’s ‘God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters’
The Sound track for the Ad is Moby’s : god moving over the face of the waters
I thought it was Keifer Sutherland as well.
Mike,
The background music is from Moby’s “God Moving Over the Face of the Waters”, apparently not in the iTunes Music Store, although, strangely enough, the album it came from is listed.
but hopefully other kinds of ads will follow!
MIKE – I know the music, but don’t have it on me today – email me.
This ad is clearly targeted towards ma and pa who have no clue about computers. In other words, most shoppers!
It may strike tech-heads as weird, but it’s something everyone else can grasp.
Good ad.
Hmmmm…it’s an ad. That’s something. It still doesn’t do anything to show WHY a Mac is so much better.
Good ad, I like play on “intel inside” that so many people know. Will be nice to see Mac computers advertised. Hopefully this will progress into OS/Software ads as well.
Any software available for the Intel Macs besides Apple’s? Hope they don’t stop selling the G4 Powerbooks and the G5 iMacs until there is.
