“Amazon.com Inc., the world’s biggest online retailer, said holiday sales worldwide set a record this year on demand for Apple Computer Inc.’s iPod music players, video games and jewelry,” Bloomberg reports.
“Shoppers bought more than 108 million items between Nov. 1 and Christmas, the Seattle-based retailer said today in a statement. The company did not provide revenue figures. The busiest single day was Monday, Dec. 12, when customers ordered 3.6 million items,” Bloomberg reports. “iPods were one of the top three-selling items in electronics for Amazon.com. Overall, online sales in the U.S. are expected to jump 24 percent to about $19 billion in November and December as the convenience of Internet shopping and free shipping lures consumers, according to ComScore Networks Inc. The most popular goods on the Web include clothing, electronics and toys.”

Good thing I have about half a dozen Amazon stocks.
Didn’t know Apple sold video games and jewelry, but I bet it would sell well if they did.

hey.. Just what on earth is going on? All the stores are closed, nothing but reruns on tv, and all my in-laws are eating and drinking merrily over at my house. Just what the hell do you call this mess?
I guess it’s safe to say the .com eCommerce Christmas shopping bugs have been worked out of the system.
Great news on iPod. Too bad there only a fad, right Michael Hell? Should be an interesting year for Apple.

MacMania: “Please grammar police don’t kill me.”
They don´t kill you; they laugh and scoff at you behind your back. And grammar police don´t worry about words spelled wrong – it is the dictionary police. So you are wrong again!

“Amazon.com Customers Order over 108 Million Items Worldwide During 11th Holiday Season; More Than 99 Percent of Orders Shipped in Time to Meet Holiday Deadlines Worldwide” [“iPods ruled the holiday season in Electronics, owning the top three slots- the Apple 3 GB iPod Nano (Black), the Apple 30 GB iPod with Video Playback (Black), and the Apple 512 MB iPod Shuffle were the top sellers.”
How come the MDN reporting is SOOOO vague? Too much to eat in the holidays? Snoozing on the job today?
Happy Thing™
A “3 GB Nano” ?????? ….I guess the PR people at Amazon don’t even know what they are selling….someone needs to let them know they never sold even 1 – 3 GB Ipod Nano since there is no such item…they are either 2 GB or 4 GB Ipod Nanos….the error is in their full press release posted on the Amazon web site in the Press release section

I hope you and everyone out there are having a great holiday with family and friends, regardless of which holiday you choose to observe.
Wishing a Happy New Year to All!
Grammer police? That’s child’s play.
In Quebec we have LANGUAGE police: If you are a commercial entity, you can’t write publicly in English unless the font is 1/2 the size and 1/2 as prominent as accompanying font for the same text in French. Any other language is OK, however. Make it any size you want.
Subject to unforcement, including cease and desist orders and penalty of fine. And yes .. there are language vigilantes, too.
busted, prolly. shoulda checked the spelling.
in Quebec when I was young you could’nt even get served in French by a salesperson at Eaton’s: they’d just walk away…
There a reason why we were called Nègres blancs d’Amérique…
Excuse my French, will you.
Eaton’s closed all nine of their Quebec stores in 1999, it seems. That’ll learn ’em.
Just goes to show even the canadian french are aholes. I’ve been to france and it’s a beautiful place and some of the people were nice. Most were complete and absolute aholes though. Who knows why they think they are so important? Yes they have beautiful architecture that was obtained through Kings and Queens attacking other countries and stealing their wealth. Yes they have spectacular food, wine, and art. Yes a lot of Americans come across as white trash low lives. But there’s something about the frogs that is just so annoying to be around. They are true back stabbing weasels.
Martin.. you sound like a child. All countries get wealth from.. war. Aren’t the French supposed to pussies..? So of all the countries in the world, they should have the least amount of ‘war-gotten riches’?
People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones..
Needless to say, you compliment the French to insult the Quebecois, then turn around and bash the French.. you’re schizophrenic. Get help.
You had an Eaton’s store?!? Wow, we only had a catalog counter in Ste. Agathe des Monts.
In Health and Personal Care, the Panasonic ER411NC Nose and Ear Hair Groomer, the Rayovac Sportsman LED Headlight, and Sonicare Elite 7500 Power Toothbrush were top sellers at Amazon.
I am buying Panasonic, Rayovac and Sonicare stock!!!!
Whooo-hooo!
Zeee French…
The French brought wealth from wars they won? When?
The last war they started/won (then lost) was back around early 1800s with Napoleon.
The only thing the French have to show from their colonial exploits is upteen zillion Arabs/Muslims taking over their country.
It´s a riot.

The frogs won some wars and plundered foreign lands centuries ago and used that wealth to create the beautiful architecture they have. Martin’s correct, they have extraordinary wine, food, and art; but the people for the most part are major league f*cktards. To the poser who goes by mike, you are the one that’s “schizophrenic”.
French art – could you name a few French artists?
Most art in French museums is from non-French artists.
Let´s see a French artist…
um…who´s that short guy that painted the hookers of Paris?
