I only bought the iPhone 6s because it’s available in rose gold

“I don’t need a new phone. My 11 month old iPhone 6 Plus works perfectly fine, easily getting me through a day’s worth of work without any issues. The camera is the best I’ve ever had on a phone. The battery life is still amazing, usually ending up with about 20 percent left after about 16 hours off the charger,” Micah Singleton writes for The Verge. “But none of that stopped me from buying an iPhone 6S Plus last week.”

Singleton writes, “Now, I didn’t buy it because of [any of the] new features… I bought it because Apple made a version in rose gold.”

“Right now, rose gold is in, and as The Verge’s Luxury Director (a facetious title bestowed upon to me by our esteemed leader Nilay Patel that has yet to be challenged), it is my duty to be up on all things elegant and fashionable. Plus it looks damn good,” Singleton writes. “Just look at it. It’s majestic.”

MacDailyNews Take: We prefer iPhones with the traditional black face, so that it disappears and what’s onscreen is all that matters. We find the white-faced iPhones detract from the display. Since spending a year with white-faced gold iPhone 5s units, we’ve gone with Space Gray iPhone 6 Plus (and, soon, iPhone 6s Plus) in order to have the black face. If other colors also offered black faces, we’d be sorely tempted (Rose Gold aluminum certainly looks fine with a black face as evidenced in Apple Watch Sport; see below). As it is now, Apple makes our choice easy, as they only give us one option: Space Gray.

  1. White face on iPhone has two benefits, though:

    1) almost no visible fingerprints — huge factor for me (black makes all fingerprints visible, and I hate that);

    2) white face fits to mostly white-background OS, applications, browsing and reading really well.

But yes, in non-white background situations white face is worse than black one. For my taste, those two aforementioned factors outweigh this negative, but, obviously, everyone has to decide for himself/herself.

  2. Since there are lots of iPhone repair shops anymore. Couldn’t they put a black face on your rose gold iPhone…?
Not sure if it works that easily but hey, you never know. I mean, if you wanted it bad enough.

  3. “I only bought the iPhone 6s because it’s available in rose gold”

Actually, and according to the article itself, “I bought the iPhone 6s [only] because it’s available in rose gold.”

Misplaced modifiers do not aid communication.

  4. I can’t wait for my rose gold 6s 128. I usually have fun waiting in line talking to other Apple geeks but last year was ruined after being stuck in the middle of all the Chinese grandmas and grandpas. Had to settle for the online order this year

  5. I’m trying to shack things up in my world (don’t want to be that old person who only does black) so I ordered the silver one for the first time…gold is too Trump for me and rose gold is just like the bracelets I use to buy my mom back in HS for Mother’s Day.

Btw, my mom would LOVE a rose gold iPhone 🙂

  6. Agree with mdn, I only get the phone with a black face. Had a white iPhone 4 and hated it. Will never get another white faced phone when black is an option so I’m only getting space grey at the moment

  7. fyi— pre-ordered 128gb space grey and just got notified by Verizon that my order is ready to go shipping from Memphis, TN.
Wonder if any of these will arrive a day early……??
    GLTA!!
Now back to the MSM narrative—appppple is doooomed……!!!
