“Samsung is offering users of rival Apple’s iPhone the chance to try out one of its latest flagship phones for just $1 in a bid to lure customers away from Apple’s device,” Arjun Kharpal reports for CNBC.
“The South Korean electronics giant is billing the promotion as the ‘ultimate test drive’ and it allows U.S. customers to trial the dual-curved screen Galaxy S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus and the Note 5 for with full cellular service for 30 days,” Kharpal reports. “An activated SIM card with a voice and data plan hosted by a user’s current carrier is included in the trial.”
Kharpal reports, “Samsung struggled in the smartphone market last year as it was pressured at the high end by the release of Apple’s iPhone 6 and larger screen iPhone 6 Plus and at the mid-to-low end by Chinese players like Xiaomi.”

MacDailyNews Take: Ultimate mental breakdown, is more like it.
This is a very desperate “promotion.” Last ditch, in fact. Obviously, Samsung is still out of ideas; a common situation since they haven’t had one beyond “copy Apple poorly” – unless you count “bend the screen for no good reason.”
This is like Kia Motors offering BMW drivers 30 days of driving hell. No takers among the sane.
That said, by all means, we encourage every single iPhone user to go crazy and take Samsung up on this. (Just don’t put any actual personal data on it, if you want it to remain private; fragmandroid has nasty malware issues that rarely go corrected at the user level since neither Google, Samsung, or the carriers give a shit about users after the sale). Slumming it for 30 long days will remind you of how good you have it.

Not even worth the dollar…
If I met the guy that voiceovers for the Samesung commercials, I know I’d punch him. Then I’d give him my $1.
Wait… we’d have to pay them?
Exactly my first thought: Oh, they are offering a dollar to try them. Good start, but it would take a much bigger bribe to “test drive” Android!
Exactly. If anything that POS Slavish Copying Low Life Scumbag of a Company should pay people to use their Piece of Crap product.
For a dollar, you can’t even keep the phone! What a ripoff! 🖖😀⌚️
They pay iPhone users $1? I wouldn’t use a samdung phone for $1000 and more.
As repulsive a company as they are, your use of the tired “Samdung” immediately identifies you as an unexceptional middle school student. Think Different.
Garbage at a lower price is still garbage.
Hey, Scumsang, go suck on a beet.
Yes, they surely do suck, but could you please try being just a trifle more eloquent?….
How about more daily news and less daily rant?
Drop dead, fragmandroid settler.
It’s a package deal. I would think that you’d be more familiar with packages…
I think every iPhone user should go for this, depleting Samsung’s stock and then returning them en masse. This could create a nice inventory and return product issue for them.
They’d still count them as “items shipped”.
No you got that wrong. Items sold. They would count them sold.
Yes, and interpret it as a potentially interested market.. doing it again and again and scoring a PR victory.
Lying bastards
I tried to sign up because I wanted to see what it would be like carrying a 5.7″ phone around for a day. I’m debating getting an iPhone 6S+ to replace my iPhone6.
Anyway, not one of the devices on any of the carriers is available. “Sorry, that device is not available”
But your inquiry has been added to Samsung’s sold tally.
There is one feature on my iPhone I use constantly which puts it far above anything anyone else has. Touch ID. I would feel like i’m in the old days with a feature phone if I didn’t have my Touch ID.
Oh Sammy, shipped too many? No sale?! Better to put them to use than having them saving dust. No more 2 for one, now it’s one for 1$ . Cheap as always.
They couldn’t pay me enough to try there electro junk!
Their. Spell correctly or lose all credibility. It’s time to learn.
PASS!
They would need to pay me more. A lot more.
I am a BMW driver and use most of Apple’s current products and because of what I drive and use I won’t respond to you in expletives, regardless of my experiences.
I would do it if they allow me to bare butt spank the CEO and his top minions with a paddle. In Public, on video, air publicly, globally in ultra 5K HD resolution. Oh yeah and a dollar. 😛
I must say that I wholeheartedly agree with the MDN take on this. Except that I already know how good I have it, don’t have the time or inclination to futz with Android/Samsung. I aint no glutton for punishment like Andy Inhatko or the tech team at WSJ.
Selling itself short. 🙂 Yeah people will try it, then give it back reassured that iPhone is better.

Why not, 30 free days. You would be a fool not to, suck up your misguided and moronic pride appleholes. Just return it. Fools.
So you have such an empty life, I guess, that wasting your time in this way seems reasonable… and those who don’t want to waste theirs are “appleholes” and fools! Nope – we have A LOT of better ways to pass the time.
