Apple Watch Edition shoppers will get twice as much time to try on device

“Interested in a $10,000 Apple Watch?,” Luke Villapaz reports for International Business Times. “Apple Inc. will give you a 30-minute appointment to check it out, double the standard appointment time, according to Apple Store employees at two separate locations in New York.”

“The standard appointment will be 15 minutes,” Villapaz reports, “but the company will offer an additional 15 minutes of try-on time to shoppers who express interest in the most expensive Apple Watch Edition versions, which start at $10,000 and finish at $17,000.”

“To facilitate the try-on process, Apple will revamp its retail stores April 10, with entirely new display tables with glass cases to show off the Apple Watch. Several employees will also be stationed around the display tables as part of the preview and preorder process,” Villapaz reports. “Walk-ins may be accommodated depending on customer volume, but the employees recommended making reservations ahead of time to guarantee spots.”

MacDailyNews Take: They should be getting 25x to 43x the amount of try-on time, depending on the AWE model in which they’re interested. 😉

    1. I seem to recall the “$10,000” 20th Anniversary Macintosh (TAM) was originally delivered by limousine, with a personal Apple rep who set it up (or something like that…). Anyone who buys the $15,000 or $17,000 Apple Watch Edition (and has it shipped) should get it hand-delivered (“the last mile”) by an Apple rep.

  1. So, if you want to spend more time going over the Apple Watch, dress nice and make an appointment to see the gold watch. It has the same functions.
You might even get some wine an cheese during your appointment. 😉

        1. I just curious how Apple employees will handle people buying a $15,000 gold watch. More importantly, what the 1% -ers reaction will be when they deal with a $12 per hour employee who is selling them that $15,000 watch.

This isn’t a negative comment, more power to Apple, I’m just curious.

        2. Apple employees have always been trained with the philosophy that their goal is to enrich people lives. They carry this statement around on a card in their pocket. Be it a free tutorial on Accessibility Controls to aid a person with limited eyesight or hearing, or demonstrating a $17,000 watch. The goal is the same… enriching peoples lives. The sale is the byproduct of that experience.
