“Samsung Electronics has agreed with LG Electronics and Apple to supply advanced DRAM chips for their new range of smartphones, two people familiar with the deal said Monday,” Kim Yoo-chul reports fore The Korea Times.

“Estimated to be worth billions of dollars, the deal may signal the start of a thaw in the recent icy relationship between Samsung Electronics and Apple, as well as LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics,” Kim reports. “‘Samsung will handle at least half of the amount that Apple needs for its new iPhone ― tentatively named iPhone 6S,’ an industry official who is familiar with the deal told The Korea Times.”

  1. This is Apple’s version of rehabilitation for a criminal offender. Teach them how to make an honest living. Unfortunately 85% reoffend. Then they get the electric chair. Does Samsung make an electric chair?

    1. Just have them repair one of their washing machines. My neighbor has one of them with the fancy ‘Star Trek’ looking control panels and had to replace the circuit board twice and you know what they say about electricity and water… ‘SHOCKING’!

satire Samsung, satire… I’m sure your washing machines meet to the standards you set for all your other products.

  2. “Apple has chosen Samsung to provide mobile processors that will be used to power the upcoming iPhone 6S”

No… Samsung will not “provide” processors. Samsung will fabricate Apple’s design to Apple’s specification.

    1. Unless the other foundries step up their game, producing 10x current output while still meeting Apple’s high QC standards, this unfortunately won’t be happening in the next few years.

  3. Samsung does make good RAM, but their monitors have this annoying blue tint to them that no amount of calibration will every get rid of. Also, they have lousy support for their storage products. I vowed a couple of years ago to never buy anything with their brand attached to it ever again.

  4. Let’s be clear here: ALL of the “icy” relationship between Apple and Samsung is SAMSUNG’S FAULT. Apple is entirely blameless and rightfully fought for their patent rights against lazy, cheapass, knockoff, wannabe Samsung.

Considering Samsung’s consistently bad attitude, it’s intensely sad to see Apple continuing to feed these plagiarists. But if Samsung makes the best DRAM, what’s a company to do? *shaking head*
