Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covergirl and current “IT” girl supermodel Kate Upton attended the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 launch event in New York City on August 15, 2012.

The Loop‘s Jim Dalrymple, he of The Beard, noticed Kate’s exquisitely-designed white iPhone 4S (we assume she has the latest model) perched next to the exquisitely-designed Ms. Upton and remarked with a typically-verbose, “Oopsie.” (Jim was running over at the keyboard by adding that extra “ie.” We thank ye for the bounty, oh bearded one!)

    No, Samsung is so desperate that it has to pay celebrities to go to its party. Put yourself in Kate’s place: If Samsung offered you $100,000 to show up at their party for an hour or two, look hot and mingle with free food and drinks, wouldn’t you take the gig?

Now now… if we start assessing the smart phones of what we have earmarked as a Celebrity use then don’t look now but there sure are a lot of BlackBerries out there.

No doubt iPhone holds its own as I am sure so too does Android. Dollars to donuts they will carry what they are paid to carry.

This said, she gives Ms. Mayer from Yahoo a run for her money.

  No, most celebrities aren’t paid to carry any phone (and most do carry iPhones). They are paid to endorse a product or show up at launch parties, like this one.
  
  This is different from someone like LeBron James, who is paid extremely well by Nike to promote its gear and as part of that multi-million dollar contract gets his own shoes designed for him (and also which is a big status symbol among NBA players). But that’s in a completely different league than paying someone to attend your party.
