iPad 3 to feature Apple A6 processor, 9.7-inch screen; iPhone 5 Due in autumn 2012, sources say

“Cupertino-based tech giant [Apple] is gearing up for the release of two versions of its next generation iPad at the iWorld (formerly known as Macworld) trade show on Jan. 26,” Kukil Bora reports for The International Business Times. “The report, citing unnamed sources in Apple’s supply chain partner firms, also said the forthcoming iPad 3 will be powered by A6 processors from Samsung.”

“The report further said the new models of the iPad will target the entry-level, mid-range and high-end market segments,” Bora reports. “They will feature 9.7-inch screens with QXGA resolution (1536×2048 pixels), instead of the previously-rumored 7.85-inch screens. The device will also have dual-LED light bars to strengthen the brightness of the panels.”

  1. This rumor was confirmed to be false a couple days ago (see Daring Fireball). Apple will not be taking part in iWorld and will not be releasing any products then (or at CES).

    1. Well, it did not even need denial, because this ignorant nonsense tabloid junk rumour came from DigiTimes. This “news” outlet mixes half real, half made up information — so this makes for media harder to ignore them completely. Sometimes they are right. Though, even broken clock is right twice a day.

  2. I believe I saw an article a while back that said the A6 wouldn’t go into volume production until April, or so. I the iPad 3 is going to use it, it can’t come out before then.
