“The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has sided with Apple in the company’s bitter lawsuit against Psystar,” Don Reisinger reports for CNET.
“Circuit Judge Mary Schroeder ruled yesterday that Psystar’s Mac clones violated copyrights Apple holds, and the ban on sales will be upheld,” Reisinger reports. “According to Judge Schroeder, Psystar specifically violated copyrights Apple holds in Mac OS X, and said that the U.S. District Court’s ruling in favor of Apple was just.”
Reisinger reports, “In December of 2009, Apple was awarded a permanent injunction against Psystar by the District Court. Today’s ruling by Circuit Judge Schroeder upholds that ruling, and could prove to be the final nail in Psystar’s coffin.”

MacDailyNews Take: The wheels of justice do not grind to a halt quickly.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Lynn Weiler” for the heads up.]
This is still ongoing?
I’d forgotten all about those guys!
Our insidious legal system sucks. You want to do everything you can not to get wrapped into it unless you have dire need.
Uh, want to try that again? Psystar’s legal briefs made more sense than that comment.
Everything Peter said made sense to me. The justice system in the US moves very slow. If you can avoid getting involved in legal action, then do so (for instance don’t steal). Alternatively don’t sue unless you really need to, like Apple did.
This should relieve all the uncertainty on the stock price…
Snap
Not today. As of a minute ago it is down $5.56 and falling like a stone!!!
… No doubt due to the FUD that the Amazon Fire competes somehow with the iPad. Never underestimate the gullibility of day traders. Benefit from their FAIL and buy Apple stock now! 😉
Oh, and that horse shite from Acer today. Sooo scary! Day traders in Halloween mode already. BOO! 😯
All of that is true, but the Nasdaq was down which probably had more to do with AAPL going down late. Now this morning you have that nailed.
Did anyone ever find out who was financially backing these guys?
That would be interesting to know…
Guessing Microsoft in a very clever halloween costume.
I wish the final nail had included revelatory info about the 3rd party(ies) added to the lawsuit by Apple.
I guess Michael Dell can finally put that little black checkbook away, along with his pipe dream of selling Mac clones . . . .
Wonder whatever happened to all the folks stridently defending Psystar back when this thing originally caught fire…
And remember the amusing way their supposed address changed from someone’s house to a completely different address while people were originally looking them up?
Still, I’m sure the folks behind this fiasco have already moved on to greener pastures. Perhaps funding charitable organizations such as Lodsys (whose name feels rather Psystar-y somehow).
“..whatever happened to all the folks stridently defending Psystar..”
The are pstridently psiding with psomebody elpse.
MDN Take:
I’m glad that Apple won their case, but “wheels of justice”??? There are no wheels of justice in this world, merely accidental wins for the good guys once in awhile.
Finally.
Llet’s see Android in the same field.
“The wheels of justice do not grind to a halt quickly.”
But when they did, the wheels ended up on Psystar’s back…
Woot!
Wow. Psystar. There’s a trip down memory lane. And yeah, what did happen to that one idiot who claimed to be an ecstatically happy Psystar fan, who said he’d bought multiple machines and that they were a better value than Apple’s own gear? Guess he made himself a Hackintosh.
Or did he? That’s another thing you don’t hear much about anymore. Did Apple finally stamp out that community, or did they just give up the fight?
