Is the 5th Avenue store open right now? That’s actually the closest one to where I work, and I know they’re also doing construction on the SoHo store.

It looks like some kind of ancient Egyptian structure. Even under construction it looks cool.
We know that a lot of the renovation will be the addition of new space as well as changes to the current space. This and previous photos point out that something is changing regarding ‘the cube’. It may well only be a change in structural materials.
I certainly won’t plan any trips to NYC until the construction is done. That store is on my list of things-to-see.

There is a certain other cube shrouded in BLACK that also might be called a Mecca. Is this the anti-mecca? Perhaps…

They’re putting a post-modern gable on it. SO 1984!
The store will time warp the customers into the future.
I’ve heard rumors that they’ll be using stained glass with a big cross above the Apple logo to attract the worshippers, I mean, consumers. Next week, they erect the glass steeple.
You may want to see an audiologist and get that hearing checked… Not all of us have drank the KoolAid. Some have sipped the Apple juice! 😉
