Apple delivers mystery sealed pallets to Apple stores, warns do not open until directed

“Evidence that Apple plans to introduce new MacBook Pro notebooks as early as this week continues to mount, with the company reportedly providing some dealers with strict warnings not to breach the integrity of sealed pallet shipments that may begin arriving as early as tomorrow,” AppleInsider reports.

“More specifically, the Mac maker this weekend began informing some of its larger European resellers that they could expect delivery of sealed product pallets to their brick-and-mortar stores as early as Monday, which coincides with one of ten federal holidays (President’s Day) in the United States,” AppleInsider reports.

“Apple has historically avoided making major product launches on federal holidays, and as such is telling these partners that an official announcement pertaining to the shipments would follow shortly, according to a person familiar with the matter,” AppleInsider reports. “The same person said that Apple is vocalizing its right to yank reseller licenses from any dealer who tampers with the sealed shipments ahead of that said announcement.”

MacDailyNews Note: Today is Washington’s Birthday in the U.S.A., a federal holiday and, as such, the U.S. markets are closed for the day. We expect to be posting today, but lighter than usual.

  1. Not that it really matters, but it is only in a few state and local governments, and in sale flyers, that today is known as “Presidents Day.”

The federal holiday is “Washington’s Birthday.”

Quote: “This holiday is designated as “Washington’s Birthday” in section 6103(a) of title 5 of the United States Code, which is the law that specifies holidays for Federal employees. Though other institutions such as state and local governments and private businesses may use other names, it is our policy to always refer to holidays by the names designated in the law.”

Nixon tried to get the day renamed as “Presidents Day,” but the effort failed at the federal level.

    1. “Washington’s Birthday”, “Presidents Day”… who cares, all I know is it’s “Sean still has to go to work and doesn’t get the day off like everyone else” day. Hmph.

  2. It’s obvious.
Those geniuses at Apple have designed a wonderful, magical, amazing, new shipping pallet.
I think it will be called the “Most advanced pallet in the world”, and we’ll definitely even notice that this pallet is snappier.

Oh, Apple. Is there anything you can’t do?!

    Boom.

  3. curious as Apple doesn’t usually go to the black palette level for a product refresh. I think it could be a whole new macbook not just a processor update. And maybe something new altogether. Maybe iPad2.
Also seems odd that it appears to be a world wide launch. Usually they would just ship to us for an announce then let the products make it to europe and asia a few days later.

Something is up thats bigger then a refresh I say.

Doctors will write anyone a fake note as you put it. You sound a little jealous. I am in a public sector union and I may take one sick day off a year and one for medical spots. That is probably a lot less than you.

  6. Exciting week.

As for the new MBP, my gut tells me the superdrive isnt going away just yet. Expect it to be an option to remove it and add another data drive for SSD/HDD combo or a model with a bigger battery perhaps.

I dont think they are ready to thin them down and make them all into MBA sized MBP’s.
    Not yet.

When they can bring the internals, spec wise, of the MBP to the MBA form factor there will no longer be a MBA and a MBP line. I dont see how that can happen just yet.
