Apple is marking the arrival of iPhone 18 Pro with “What Holds Us,” a photography exhibition of original images shot entirely on the new phone. Curated by Kathy Ryan, former director of photography at The New York Times Magazine, the show brings together work by Alex Prager, Jack Davison, and Jimmy Chin exploring touch, gaze, care, and the ties that ground people.
The artists used iPhone 18 Pro’s camera system, including its first variable-aperture main camera, to pursue very different subjects. Chin photographed climbers and vast mountain landscapes in British Columbia’s Bugaboos. Davison made tactile studio portraits of people working with clay in London. Prager staged cinematic crowd scenes and intimate portraits in Los Angeles.
Ryan describes the project as a response to a fragmented world: three distinct artists given room to ask what still connects us, using a camera most people already carry. The exhibition opens Friday, September 18th, in New York City and is scheduled to travel to London and Shanghai.
