Responding to the following announcement on X of a new deal between Alphabet and Apple to use Google Gemini to power Apple Intelligence and the forthcoming LLM Siri, Elon Musk responded on X, “This seems like an unreasonable concentration of power for Google, given that the also have Android and Chrome.”
Joint Statement: Apple and Google have entered into a multi-year collaboration under which the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be based on Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology. These models will help power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming this year.
After careful evaluation, Apple determined that Google’s Al technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models and is excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for Apple users. Apple Intelligence will continue to run on Apple devices and Private Cloud Compute, while maintaining Apple’s industry-leading privacy standards.
MacDailyNews Take: Duh. But, considering that Tim Cook lacks the imagination of a plain oatmeal packet, this is precisely the sort of “deal” to which Apple would be consigned.
Apple would do well to think apolitically and ink deals to use both SpaceX’s superior Starlink satellite connectivity and xAI’s outstanding Grok in Apple Intelligence. – MacDailyNews, October 24, 2025

“This seems like an unreasonable concentration of power for Google, given that the also have Android and Chrome.”
Musk is suddenly worried about an “unreasonable concentration of power?”
How quaint.
“Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Monday that Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok will join Google’s generative AI engine in operating inside the Pentagon network.”
Is this an example of “an unreasonable concentration of power?”
What a child, whenever he doesn’t get what he wants he sticks his lower lip out and whines. Never mind that his AI bullshit is crap it also has the most stupid name. Why would Apple get into business with the guy who personally designed the Cybertruck.
because Google Gemini’s integration into Android hardware will make Apple’s products second class. Forget what you think about the individual personalities behind the companies, Apple relying on Gemini for their AI services will do irreversible harm. Gemini is the trojan horse to dethrone IOS; users will become more loyal to their AI platform and the phone and devices will be second consideration. iOS with become an unnecessary layer of complication and road block to innovation, Most likely Gemini will always run better on Android and Pixel hardware. Apple giving up on the core AI software stack will prove to be Tim’s worse move.
If Musk were making that argument, I might agree, but he’s not. He’s saying something completely disingenuous.
“I’m sure that if Grok were as popular as Gemini, Musk would turn down a deal with Apple to avoid concentrating “power” in his hands.” (Daring Fireball)
Agree 100%. Jobs maintained that Apple MUST have control of its core technologies and software, period. Why the hell else have they building their own phone modems. And why have they still not given up with Pages/Numbers/Keynote/Final Cut Pro software and others?
They surrendered on AI because they have no clue how to innovate, only iterate. They never have since the day Cook took over, and now they are making a huge mistake on AI implementation. Fools.
And Musk is SPOT ON.
NeoNazi’s do not make good business partners. Apple knows that.
It’s really stupid to let personal political distort critical thinking
Hey currentdisinterest, it’s better to say nothing and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it.
Hey @Grok, change the photo and put Elon in a bathing suit on the shores of Greenland.
Grok is utter s**t! It’s nowhere near Gemini one bit, although Geok has surpassed ChatGPt. Perhaps Jonny Ive partnering with Sam Altman mite have something to do with Mr Cooks decision to partner with Google.
Apple is beyond stupid for making a AI deal with the devil known as Google.
I have used both Grok and alternative AI solutions, I have found Grok to be sound and persuasive that there is benevolence under the hood. All my hardware is Apple but I won’t load anything Meta or Google for fear of mindless wokeness and a hard core liberal bias. Grok’s searches are thorough and truth centric, not blatantly biased. I will leave an Apple Google/Siri turned off thank you.
