A German court ruled on Tuesday that Apple cannot market its Apple Watch as a “CO2-neutral product” in Germany, siding with plaintiffs who argued the claim was misleading. The Frankfurt regional court found Apple’s online promotion of the device as “our first CO2-neutral product” to be baseless and in breach of German competition law.
In June, Apple had said the German lawsuit threatens “to discourage the kind of credible corporate climate action the world needs.”
Still, a spokesperson referred on Tuesday to a report that Apple will phase out the ‘carbon neutral’ label it uses for Apple Watches in order to comply with EU legislation coming into force in September 2026 restricting the use of such terms.
Apple based its claim of carbon neutrality on a project it operates in Paraguay to offset emissions by planting eucalyptus trees on leased land.
The eucalyptus plantations have been criticised, opens new tab by ecologists, who claim that such monocultures harm biodiversity and require high water usage, earning them the nickname ‘green deserts.’

Tim Cook seems like a smart enough guy (good at ordering parts and keeping prices down, at least). I always wonder how much of this hokum he actually believes (if any) and how much of the anthropogenic climate change nonsense he just parrots in order to satisfy leftist nut-jobs and sell products to tree-huggers. (Unfortunately, I think he’s probably swallowed the whole scam hook, line, and sinker, but maybe he’s just a really great liar.)
Tim Cook approved the release of the inane wrong-headed disaster video below. Outside of ordering parts and exploiting cheap third-world workers to create high product margins, he’s dumber than a rock.

Apple will be far better off once this white-guilt-wracked limousine liberal retires, if it can somehow manage to get a real CEO who’s focused on the actual core businesses instead of incessantly promoting the UN’s socialist wealth redistribution scheme disguised as “man-made climate change.”
You know what was also not carbon neutral? Those awful FineWoven cases that Apple touted. They were even worse than leather, because after you bought one you would realize how bad it sucked a few weeks later, and then go buy a leather one.
