Apple has scaled back certain features originally planned for its long-anticipated smart home hub, Bloomberg News reporter Mark Gurman reported. In his Power On newsletter, Gurman noted, “I’m told that Apple has pulled some bolder features from the device that could reappear in subsequent models,” without disclosing specifics about the removed features.
Joe Rossignol for MacRumors:
Apple made this decision in order to get the smart home hub “ready faster,” according to Gurman. The device’s launch was already postponed after Apple delayed its personalized Siri features, which are expected to be a core aspect of the hub, per his previous reporting. In his newsletter this week, he said that he expects the device to be released “by the end of this year at the earliest,” but the exact timeframe “remains up in the air.”
Gurman had previously said that the home hub would be “Apple’s most significant release” of 2025… The device is expected to be similar to a HomePod with a screen, with rumored features including a 6-inch or 7-inch display, an A18 chip, and Apple Intelligence support. Gurman said it can be attached to a tabletop base with a speaker, or mounted on a wall.

Siri is not the bottleneck. Tim Cook is.
Another Tim Cook mess can he just concentrate on getting it right before he makes any more announcements
Time to hand over to some one who understands the to the capability and is not looking to be in the media and do the work
Announce, delay, retract…kill.
Announce, delay, retract…kill.
Announce, delay, retract…kill.
Once formed, habits are difficult to break.
Correction!! Another Tim Cook mess can he just concentrate on getting it right before he makes any more announcements
Time to hand over to some one who understands the tech time frames ( innovation would help) and is not looking to be in the media grabbing headlines and actually do the work
How many more false starts just keep quiet till its ready stop the leaks to cover lack of innovation and ability
Another Tim Cook mess can he just concentrate on getting it right before he makes any more announcements
Time to hand over to some one who understands the to the capability and is not looking to be in the media and do the work
How hard can this device really be?
– It runs HomeKit
– It streams music
– It uses Siri to respond
– It can display photos
– It connects to your iPhone or iPad
– It is part of iCloud
– It has a screen, a speaker, and antenna for connectivity
What’s the hold up? I promise you it does not need a special rainbow screensaver or other signaling beacon.
My homepod gathers dust, it kinda stunk.. Siri is atrocious.. those things make me leery about how useless this next device might be. I’m not happy with my overpriced and heavy Vision-not-pro.. Apple continues to disappoint me
