The showrunner of the Apple TV+ series ‘The Morning Show’ tells Deadline that season 4 will address such subjects as AI, DeepFakes, and misinformation.
Destiny Jackson for Deadline:
The Morning Show writer, showrunner and executive producer Charlotte Stoudt joined Deadline’s Contenders TV event Sunday to discuss the intricacies of running a faux newsroom, ripping stories straight from the headlines and the upcoming Season 4.
In the aftermath of Season 3, the newsroom finds itself up against the threat of potentially misleading technologies such as AI. Stoudt mentions that Season 4 will incorporate some of these newer threats that can aid in news misinformation.
“We blew everything up last year with the biggest bomb we could possibly build,” she said. “So, we have to ask ourselves how is the band going to get back together, and what will that look like? We get into the world of DeepFakes and AI and the misinformation in the fog of war that we’re seeing now in the Middle East and stuff. We’re looking at who can trust. And can you trust what you’re seeing? Can you trust yourself? Can you trust your news outlet?”

MacDailyNews Take: Can you trust your news outlet? No, not if you only have one.
As always, our boilerplate regarding “news” consumption: The best way to consume “news” is to cast a wide net.
[Consumers] of “news” need to consider the sources and interpret what they are being told accordingly. The more disparate sources you can find, the better. And we don’t mean different newspaper, network, website brands that are all owned by the same conglomerate. Determining the actual ownership of your “news” sources is an investment that requires a bit of time, but it is very enlightening. — MacDailyNews Take, June 17, 2015

Episode Title: “Echoes of Truth”
Synopsis:
In the wake of a major shakeup in Season 3, the newsroom at UBA is struggling to regain its footing amidst a rapidly evolving media landscape. As the team works to rebuild trust with their audience, they face the new and insidious threat of AI-generated misinformation.
Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) are thrust into the heart of the chaos when a high-profile news story breaks, only for them to discover that a deepfake video is circulating, casting doubt on the authenticity of their reporting. As they delve deeper, they find themselves questioning the reliability of their sources and even their own memories.
Meanwhile, Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) grapples with the ethical implications of using AI technology to enhance ratings, torn between journalistic integrity and corporate pressures. As tensions rise within the team, Mia Jordan (Karen Pittman) and Stella Bak (Greta Lee) must navigate the delicate balance of maintaining newsroom morale while pushing for rigorous fact-checking procedures.
With the fog of misinformation thickening, the UBA team must rely on their instincts, each other, and a few unexpected allies to uncover the truth. As they confront the shadows cast by AI and deepfake technologies, they are forced to ask themselves: Can they trust what they see? Can they trust each other? And most importantly, can they trust themselves?
In a race against time, “Echoes of Truth” unravels the complex layers of deception in modern journalism, setting the stage for a gripping and thought-provoking exploration of trust in the digital age.

Gotcha!
Of course, it does.
Always go to MacRumors, 9to5Mac, AppleInsider, etc. to see how they cover the same stories.
Ya, I love Jennifer, so that means I have been biased since the 1990s. She’d be able to figure out it’s me by the end of this comment.
RE: A.I.
I could spot re-pixelated images, and look-alike video of Jennifer in the 1990s, because I did re-pixelating since 1991 of scanned images, one pixel at a time for experimentation. It is much less time-consuming, today, by programming software to do it, but it’s only as good as the programmer, which aren’t many in this world. I’ve tested these AI sights. There are not many bright people, but there are many thirsty-for-money entrepreneurs.
(Happens everywhere in high tech sector. If a rocket is not ready then don’t send it. If a satellite doesn’t pass quality control then don’t send it, but they had sent it, in order to gang up and blame a female engineer whose indigenous ethnic group was targeted by fascist Europeans 30 years ago (for a third time in the 20th century), at the expense of aerospace company shareholders.)
I have never re-pixelated another person, other than what was on the legal tender currency note (head of state) at the time. The misattributed images of Jennifer from the 1990s are still out there, today, so if it were Jennifer then laws would have been enforced by her lawyer, by now, I assume, like the lawfirm has with prior incidents in the 21st century.
(Those images do not have Jen’s beauty marks. Ya, I looked that close, but no worries, since I’m Canadian, so I’m a nice guy, plus she knows my address 😁).
RE: Who to trust or verify for news?
Depends on the subject matter. If it’s science then talk to scientists that do not fear the corrupt government.
So, where would Alex Levy look for such a person? Research special interest groups that advocate for the corrupt government(s) to obey the freedom laws, since they have a list of members that are willing to help from various backgrounds. But, that’s the short term answer.
For the long-term piece of mind, the news company should hire news members that already understands the sciences. That’s what stock broker firms and investment banks do, or else they’ll look like a fool, like Tucker Carlson interviewing a pharmaceutical bio-chemist, during the lockdown, asking him if he could explain what he just said in plain English 😂
(No offense to Yanko, but maybe he could step in as a last minute substitute anchor to replicate Tucker Carlson’s self-deprecating humour?)
RE: Misinformation.
As for misinformation campaigns and people with mental health illnesses online, they are easy to spot. There are decent policy platforms that do not restrict freedom, by allowing people to keep scrolling instead of denying platform use, IF the person is not infringing on any user’s freedom online.
RE: Corrupt (fake) journalism.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation was rightfully accused of being belligerents rather than journalists, since they only covered one person’s viewpoint and interview of a civil war overseas, which made them look like they were enforcing the Vatican’s 15th century doctrine to conquer the world (which was finally repudiated by the Vatican on March 30th, 2023).
Decades later, the CBC parallel broadcast their nightly news program online. Rather than seeking advertisers for their commercial time slots online, like they do for the television broadcast, they would play various news clips from decades ago. It is pretty cool to watch. They even would play revelation interviews of their own journalists admitting they had no place to stay overseas when sent out on an assignment, so they ended up deliberately taking on the viewpoint of the host that housed them (possibly fascists). Who cares about the truth, since it’s a business without fact-checks until their nation’s peacekeepers started coming home in body bags, as well as fake journalists around the world losing their lives.
So, how to turn this all around that Germany had illegally started in January 1992?
(Which Senator Biden was then assigned to take on a covert narrative as a U.S. senator in late half of 1990s to hijack fascist Europe’s corrupt, sovereignty infringing, international movements, just like someone would hijack a western stagecoach; they would initially have to travel the same direction until fully conquered then change directions. These are the big political whoppers that took decades to stack as high as skyscrapers)
Well, 3 decades later, Biden, now president, started to shake off the covert narrative direction by countering with a threat to Germany’s chancellor right in the Oval Office in front of the press for the entire world to witness 😵💫 (😂).
Within months, the United States bombed Germany’s Nordstream2 pipeline. (8 years earlier, Ukraine shutoff the gas pipeline to the corrupt EU, claiming Ukraine needs EU’s fuel because Ukraine wouldn’t pay their gas bills owing to their Russian suppliers).
Many Canadians believe the entire event(s) were triggered (not caused) by fascist Canada beating peaceful, self-employed protesters (blue collar intellectuals. Well, most of the owner operator truck drivers, since some Dukes of Hazzard dipsticks are able to fake their intelligence for about one or two sentences).
For two consecutive years, starting in 2022, residents in Germany had to ration fuel by lowering their home’s thermostats. That’s what eventually happens when fascist European nations politically gang up against the USA in the press for the U.S. to violate their U.S. Constitution’s Article 6, Clause 2 (all U.S. Treaty ratified by the senate are supreme laws of the land, which is equivalent to making an amendment. In this case violating UN charter by infringing on a member nation’s sovereignty). Fascist Europe successfully hijacked the U.S. stagecoach from the 41st president. Then it took five presidents later to start to subliminally hijack the direction 🔙.
God laughs when justice is served, as do I 😂
Prepping for the election I see…
