Apple this week announced new progress to expand clean energy around the world and advance momentum toward Apple 2030, the company’s goal to be “carbon neutral” across its entire value chain by the end of this decade. More than 18 gigawatts of clean electricity now power Apple’s global operations and manufacturing supply chain, more than triple the amount in 2020. Apple is making new investments in solar power in the U.S. and Europe to help address the electricity customers use to charge and power their Apple devices.

As part of its broader environmental efforts, Apple also advanced progress toward another ambitious 2030 goal: to replenish 100 percent of the fresh water used in corporate operations in high-stress locations. This includes launching new partnerships to deliver nearly 7 billion gallons in water benefits — from restoring aquifers and rivers, to funding access to drinking water — over the next 20 years. As with clean energy, Apple has extended its commitment to clean water across the entire supply chain: Together, Apple suppliers saved over 12 billion gallons of fresh water last year, for a total of 76 billion gallons in water savings since the company launched its Supplier Clean Water Program in 2013.

“Clean energy and water are foundational to healthy communities and essential building blocks for a responsible business,” said Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, in a statement. “We’re racing toward our ambitious Apple 2030 climate goal while taking on the long-term work to transform electrical grids and restore watersheds to build a cleaner future for all.”

  1. So sick of this clean energy bullshit. Making solar panels that are literally toxic, which can’t be reasonably recycled, and bird-killing windmills, both of which have to be replaced every 20-30 years, require significant maintenance, provide unreliable energy, and arguably don’t create enough energy over the course of their use to even make up for the energy needed to create them, is fucking retarded. And if you’re retarded enough to believe CO2 is somehow bad for the planet, nuclear reactors are an easy solution. They put them on fucking boats and submarines but we can’t safely build them on land?? Tired of all these mind cucked sheep (usually leftists) ruining things for the rest of us because they can’t get over their vanity.

  2. More windmills. Less gas and natural gas. We should just end them now. End plastics which come from them. And also end all agricultural fertilizers which are made from oil and coal. End it all. So Apple can feel good and can create more (PRODUCT) Red ____ plugs.

  3. If one looks closely and is honest with data (disconnect oneselt from the power of the masses), electric powered vehicles are NOT clean energy and renewable is a misnomer. Most electric vehicles are powered by nat gas and coal. Technology in EVs (batts, chips and related chemical/minerals) rip up the earth as much/more that carbon fuels, involve submission to parties not considered friendly (CCP-esp), disposal of all solar/wind technologies is hardly clean and it also means giving up a resource rich in holdings…again forfeiting strategic power to an adversary.
In no way should pursuit of solar/wind be halted, but there is such a thing of putting the cart before the horse…it applies in this realm. Market is saying, “no,” or “slow down”, in economic terms and speaks directly to the dire emergency nuts that say we’ve got 8, 10-12, 13 years.

More simply, the wisdom of Thomas Sowell applies succinctly; there are no solutions…just trade-offs.

  4. Sowell—a genius of crafting concise, irrefutably logical books and articles with a “choose-one-or-the other” end choice which pares the arguments down to the bone. Even a lib-nut can then see the unescapable light of reality by the end of the article/book. He’s a wonderful scholar and Stanford is weakened by his retirement.
