  1. Because they are not as good as the original. You have to stop and find the stem when you are exercising instead of just tapping on the outside of the old ones. They are so un-Apple like it’s insane. Too much useless functionality. Apple get back to simplicity where you shine and quit adding useless tech to a lot of your products. I will continue to buy the 2nd gen instead of the pros.

    1. They aren’t as elegant nor as satisfying to click back into their case but the Pros are better in every other way. The tapping on the old ones was less than 50% reliable, terrible. Clicking is 100% reliable for me, though the Pros 2 have a mushier click that I don’t like. Of course the old ones didn’t have ANC, the AirPods Pro 2 have arguably better ANC than the AirPods Max. The MagSafe charging case, the sound that plays when you lose one, improved bass and all-around sound, and so on. I haven’t encountered ANY “useless functionality” as you describe it.
