Apple is reportedly speeding up development of Apple Ring wearable

Apple Ring

Apple is reportedly speeding up development of the long-rumored Apple Ring wearable smart ring that would continuously collect wearers’ health data.

Citing Business Research Insight, ETNews reports that the smart ring market is set to increase 5-fold from just $20 million in 2023 to nearly $200 million by 2031.

Junho Park for ETNews:

Apple is also speeding up the development of Apple Ring by registering patents related to smart rings one after another.

In November of last year, it filed a patent for an electronic system applied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). It is a technology that can install a near-field wireless communication circuit and work with other devices.

As Apple has been steadily releasing smart ring-related patents for years, it seems that pre-development for commercialization is imminent [an industry official said].

With the growth of the global healthcare market, the smart ring industry will grow rapidly, centering on North America and the Asia-Pacific region, where the mobile ecosystem has developed, [the industry official said]. It is expected that companies with technological advantages in terms of connection, convenience, and accuracy will lead the market.

MacDailyNews Take: “Nearly $200 million by 2031” is a prediction will turn out to be quite the undershot if/when Apple gets involved.

  1. Alright! Apple doubling down on a technology no one wants or asked for, again. It is very clear that the Harry Potter generation is running Apple these days. No, thanks. Since I pay for things myself rather than my parents or my trust fund paying for things, I’ll pass. Make something useful, Apple, and stop changing basic functionality in your software with every bloody dot release. There is nothing to take seriously here. Tim Cook ran out of the Jobs/Ive juice long ago, and it has been a downward spiral since. This company is a very, very wealthy joke in 2024. It doesn’t matter how rich a clown is, they are still a clown.
