“Apple is reportedly working on a new entry-level smartphone model similar to the iPhone SE that will support wireless charging and be released in time for summer 2018,” Tim Hardwick reports for MacRumors.
“The prediction comes from Digitimes Research analyst Luke Lin, who believes that Apple’s iPhone SE successor will have a glass back similar to the iPhone 8 series and iPhone X, but will lack the 3D sensing capabilities of the latter model,” Hardwick reports. “Lin doesn’t specifically mention the size of the new entry-level model, but the details match up with previous rumors about a forthcoming four-inch ‘iPhone SE 2’ with a glass back, although earlier speculation said the device would ship in the first quarter of 2018, rather than the second quarter.”
“Rumors about a the specifications of Apple’s next small form factor smartphone appeared in August last year,” Hardwick reports, “when Indian tech website Tekz24 claimed Apple’s next iPhone SE model would have an A10 Fusion chip, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB and 128GB storage capacities, and a slightly larger 1,700 mAh battery.”

A 4″ SE2 might require a look. I like my 8 but a smaller phone would be worth considering.
Add 3D sensing to make it smaller and that would be a very cool phone.
Better yet, let me use both phones with the same number.
Yes, please upgrade the SE. But don’t put that Kia notch on it and DO NOT f**k with the earphone jack. Wireless charging: meh.

I haven’t plugged my iPhone X in since I got it.
No interest in wireless charging at all. Takes no effort to plug it in and I can use the phone when it’s plugged in
Love my SE for its chassis and size. Cam is good, which I why I use it so much. Upgrade the cam Apple, and I’m happy.
Wireless charging can diminish battery life more quickly over time. Plugging your phone in doesn’t take that much longer than QI, and I agree with GregM.
Wireless charging for me please, just buying a new car and it has wireless charging, need to use it for something right!
Pipeline Tim really missed the mark when he took away a basic 4″ iPhone. I know a TON of people who prefer the smaller size phone. Samsung used the larger size to taught Apple, Apple took the bait. Offering 3 sizes on NEW releases would be the smart thing to do.
