“It’s called Just Press Record. As the name implies, you get audio recording simply by pressing the big red mic icon; Mac, iPhone, iPad,” Jeffrey Mincey reports for Mac360. “But even easier on Watch.”
“Just Press Record is a quick and dirty, ultra simple audio recording tool. Just press the button and recording begins. Press it again and it stops recording, then syncs the file to iCloud automatically,” Mincey reports. “Yes, there’s Just Press Record for Watch and it works as a standalone audio recorder (you don’t need your iPhone nearby), and the app has a complication so you can press the mic icon on the Watch screen, then press the big red record button on the Watch to begin audio recording. When your iPhone comes back into range the audio files will be synchronized again.”
“The Watch complication just makes it incredibly convenient to record audio. I set mine up as a complication on the Watch screen and in one tap to the mic icon you can begin recording (the Watch microphone is surprisingly decent, considering the size and location),” Mincey reports. “Just Press Record is simple, elegant, affordable [US$4.99], and it just works.”

MacDailyNews Take: Having the ability to record anything at any time just by quickly tapping the Apple Watch on your wrist is extremely useful!
In fact, it’s so useful that if we were the developer, we’d be worried about being Sherlocked by Apple.
This is also another excellent use case for Apple Watch that Apple should feature in ads for their wearable.
Perfect for when you get pulled over by the cops.
Perfect for clandestine recordingggg….another political season nightmare ……….
Now for the real NIGHTMARE——the “alphabet soup” Agnecies will all try to figure out how to turn on the Apple Watch recorder WITHOUT owner knowlege……
You should be far more concerned about criminal hackers and state-sponsored spy agencies in communist nations than with your own elected officials. If you don’t like your current corrupt representatives, vote them out.
Yeah! Voting is definitely the solution when the only candidates who actually make it onto the ballot are corrupt establishment cronies. You tell ’em, Mike!
Why the voice memos app isn’t on the Watch yet is beyond me. As is the absence of Podcast app playback controls.
Good lord, Nick, you wouldn’t seriously ever use the apple podcasts app, would you? get Overcast already.
