Well-connected reporter on all things Apple Mark Gurman is leaving 9to5Mac.com.
The site’s founder, Seth Weintraub, confirmed Gurman’s departure via Twitter, calling it amicable and describing it as have been “a year in the making.”
Weintraub told Tech Insider that Gurman was moving on to a bigger media publication and would be based in San Francisco.
Gurman described his departure as “bittersweet.”
Very sad to announce that @markgurman will no longer be writing for @9to5mac The departure has been a year in the making…

MacDailyNews Take: Good luck in your future endeavors, Mark!
Regarding him being “well connected” I always wondered if he just happened to sit next to an Apple Exec on an airplane flight, or rescue someone’s cat from a tree, only to find it belonged to Phil Schiller’s mom. Gurman attended University of Michigan when he suddenly burst on the scene with inside info. Not sure how else a 19 yo young man becomes the world’s most trusted source for Apple inside info…
The word “amicable” always sounds like chairs were thrown, and arms were bitten, but no one died, and no one will be suing, to me.
I blame Cook
