Apple today released iTunes 12.4.
Now enjoy all of your music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and more in a simpler design.
Navigation. Now you can use Back and Forward buttons as you navigate between your Library, Apple Music, iTunes Store, and more.
Media Picker. Easily switch between Music, Movies, TV shows and more–and Edit to choose just the items you want.
Library and Playlists. Use Sidebar to view your Library in new ways. Drag and drop songs to easily add them to Playlists. And Edit Sidebar to show only your favorite views.
Menus. Menus in iTuns are now simpler and easier to use. Use the View menu to customize your Library or try context menus to act on specific items.
iTunes 12.4 is available via Software Update.
The sidebar option is greyed out, even after specially choosing music from the Media Picker. Also, when I edit the Media Picker list, the settings do not survive a restart of iTunes.

Freudian slip in article summary: “Menus in iTuns are now simpler and easier to use.” reveals the level of bloat (i.e. iTunes weighs an iTun).
Surely we can already edit the media picker.
for me, navigation is quite a bit better now. for the first time since, ugh, dunno.

So why did Apple decide to NOT allow iTunes itself to see, download and install this update? WTF is Apple thinking this time?
Poor old Granny is going to go into the menu iTunes:Check for Updates… and it’s going to tell her:
“This version of iTunes (12.3.3) is the current version.”
