Lines are already forming outside Apple Retail Stores

“Lines are already forming outside Apple Stores,” Michal Addady reports for Fortune. “A full day before the company’s big event.”

“At least one Apple fan has pitched a tent in front of an Apple Store even before the company’s big Wednesday event,” Addady reports. “CNET’s Seamus Byrne spotted the camper set up outside one of the company’s retail shops in Sydney, Australia.”

Addady reports, “Apple’s Wednesday event is expected to involve the announcement of a new iPhone, as well as possibly a new Apple TV and a bigger iPad.”

  1. Consumers certainly want Apple products but the tech world and Apple investors will be disappointed, as usual. I don’t think there’s anything Apple can do to excite those people.

You know what got Amazon investors excited to load up on the stock today? A $50 tablet. Why? Because investors believe that Amazon is going to capture the entire tablet market with a really cheap tablet. If it cost $50, it’s probably not worth $50. Amazon blew it with the Fire Phone but investors think everyone will be buying this tablet. I’ll bet it uses some tired old processor. But hey, it’s $50. Who can resist a bargain like that. Why can’t Apple get some investors like Amazon has?

    1. Apple may not play to Wall Street but it cares about stock valuation just like any other publicly traded concern. But the way the firm is constructed, it’s seldom first to market; it’s seldom cheapest; in order to compete convincingly, it has to rely on its founding philosophy of “build the best products and they will come” — and that has worked very well for them. Market capitalisation and growth indices take a back seat in this careening caravan. Try to relax a bit and realise — this is one firm with a focus on the horizon, and a firm navigational grip. They will arrive there in due time, after everyone else has got lost in the boondocks, driven off the road to glory, or run out of gas.

    1. The other question will be…. Will it perform properly? If the AW, IOS9 are any indication ATV will be a downer too! Like it or not Apple is getting to big or the “Jobs” factor is playing a part. Seems nothing “just works” anymore.

      1. Apple is doing a lot more than they used to, so that’s a big factor. It takes much longer to refine the products and services, and technology changes so fast. The capabilities of competitors continues to increase alongside Apple, so that’s a factor, as well. Thankfully, Apple has been successful in re-training consumer that quality matters. People are losing patience with problematic products, such as Windows and Android. The reason that Android is growing its global share is that it’s growing into *new* markets… markets that did not exist before. That’s a non-issue for Apple as long as millions of consumers continue to choose their products.
