“Clippers owner Steve Ballmer knows the reviews on the team’s new logo haven’t all been positive, but he said that’s to be expected,” Melissa Rohlin reports for The Los Angeles Times.
MacDailyNews Take: Yes, because he’s the clown that approved it.
Rohlin reports, “‘Change is always hard on some people… But the truth is people get through change,’ Ballmer said Thursday morning. ‘If you love the Clippers, you’ll love the new Clipper logo.'”
MacDailyNews Take: Balmy never learns: You can’t force people to “love” your product.
Rohlin reports, “He said that when he bought the team in August for $2 billion, one of his top priorities was to create a new logo.”
MacDailyNews Take: When he wildly overpaid for the team in August for $2 billion… There, fixed it for ya.
“Ballmer spent the morning high-fiving fans and taking selfies. He even threw a Clippers’ T-shirt on a guy who was wearing a Lakers jersey,” Rohlin reports. “The Clippers were eliminated from the second round of the 2015 playoffs by the Houston Rockets in Game 7. It looked as though the Clippers were going to advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in their 45-year franchise history. But they lost three games in a row to allow the Rockets to become just the ninth team in NBA history to recover from such a deficit and advance to the next round.”
MacDailyNews Take: Taking after their owner who’s one of the world’s foremost experts at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

MacDailyNews Take: It’s hardly surprising that an uncouth ex-CEO of Microsoft would commission and approve an ugly, confusing logo for his pet NBA team.
This is what happens when a man destined to sell used cars stumbles into the world’s luckiest dorm assignment and hooks up with the world’s greatest thief to the tune of billions of dollars. You get horrible, tasteless computer products and basketball team logos that look like icons for a free third-party Windows Phone maze game (if Windows Phone had any third-party apps, that is).
(Actually, it’s very reminiscent of an Apple iPad. Some major, underlying issues there for psychologists to decipher, we’re sure):

Actually a pretty nice design, but lacking the spark that should relate to a sports team. Too neutral. Needs panache!
Just add a “P” and it becomes CLAP!
They need to change the team name slightly to fit the new logo: from LA Clippers, to Clippys of LA.
Don’t fret. Balmer will do for the Clippers, what he did for M$. 🖖😀⌚️
I liked the old Clippers logo. It was classic. This one smells like Nike. Nike seems bent on destroying uniform design and creating looks that future generations will look on with horror and pity.
IT IS SUITABLE/SURFACE IS SUPERIOR/POWERPOINT IS APPEALING/YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND/TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER/ALL HAIL BALLMER.
YOU’LL LOVE IT: IT’S A WAY OF LIFE
pitiful, jes’ pitiful
I’m loving this way more than I should. What an awful decision but at least he’s consistent.
Let me fix this article a bit:
But [the Rockets won] three games in a row…to become just the ninth team in NBA history to recover from such a deficit and advance to the next round. In fact, the Rockets have won three series after facing a 3-1 deficit.
Never underestimate the heart of a champion!
Thanks, KingMel. Clutch City forever.
Yes it is a bad logo, just about as bad as the thoughtless iProduct branding.
Oh man. Did he get that sh!t done on Fiverr? That’s a classic amateur hour, first time making a logo kinda thing right there!
It would be a good logo for a maze game – not an NBA team.
Logos, logos, logos! 😉
