Looks like the ginned-up Apple Watch’s “war on women” fails in the face of real, live, actual women who actually try and use Apple Watch as opposed to those who haven’t ever been within 3,000 miles of an Apple Watch or who work for Apple’s would-be competitors.
Below is a video via BuzzFeed that shows women trying on and using Apple Watch for the first time.
Guess what? They love it just as much as a “geeky guy!”

Propaganda Alert: Apple Watch skewed to geeky guys risks alienating female buyers or something – March 11, 2015
There will be reporters and analysts suffering from foot-in-mouth disease after seeing the video. 😉
Unfortunately, I can already guess what they’ll say about this.
OMG!!! APPLE TOTALLY PAYED THEM TO SAY THAT!!!1@!1@1!
The Watch – Apple Watch will be hugh and Revolutionary.
Bank on it.
You know what I mean
Sorry, I am not sure what hugh mean?
Hugh mad bro?
gonnnnna selllllllllll BILLLIONS!!!!
This will be the 2015 xmas must have gift…………………!!!
oh im sorry……Appple is doooomed…..nobody wears a watch….
ooops…….!!!!$$$$
Oh no!! It will not be a failure!!! Yup, foot up Samsungs arse. Loving it.
Don’t worry about Samsung. They’ve been working on a new watch that they will unveil soon. It’s something they have been working on for years! It’s just a coincidence that it will look just like an Apple Watch.
I think, as a percentage of iPhone owners (divided into men and women), MORE women will buy an Apple Watch by the end of its first year. Maybe men are generally more “geeky,” but women seem more “savvy” at using mobile tech. Plus (assuming they choose the smaller model), women get a $50 (or more) discount.
Men will buy more Apple Watches. They’ll be buying them for themselves AND their girlfriends or wives. 😀
And women will not buy Apple Watch for the themselves AND their boyfriends or husbands? 🙂
Also, I’ll take the purchase out of the equation, amending my previous comment… I think, as a percentage of iPhone owners (divided into men and women), MORE women will OWN an Apple Watch by the end of its first year.
And in some cases, their girlfriends and their wives…
Just so I don’t commit a social faus pas, is it better to buy them the same Apple Watch or different versions?
I would not want any hard feelings if they see each other’s watches.
I’ve always thought that women are likely to be the greater proportion of Apple Watch customers.
Just think where the women you know carry their iPhones. Unless a woman always wears trousers or jeans, the iPhone lives in a bag and it’s a little bit of a fiddle to take it out. Wearing an Apple Watch makes it unnecessary to take it out of the bag.
Gawd! Yet another vacuous non-story about non-problems. Will these idiots ever get tired of looking stupid?
No more than idiots posting stupid comments are going away anytime soon.
Who turned you into the ugly commenter? You’ve had a bad week, take a break.
You really want to defend that guy? Pick your battles wisely. I run the gamut on civil reply’s but don’t suffer fools lightly.
At least make a little effort to understand a comment before shooting off. I was referring to the vacuous non-story about being for male geeks and not women. OK, maybe that wasn’t clear. But it’s a valid if hardly astoundingly insightful comment… and not much of a reason for you to launch into being a dick.
Excuse me John but I was responding to another dick who seemed to want to look more like a dick than make himself clear. Take your own advice. I would remind you it’s hard to read someone’s mind or complete intent through an incomplete post.
Your post was indented immediately under mine meaning (usually) that it was a reply to mine.
Actually, I often like quoting a phrase from the person’s post or putting @theirname to make this clear. Because of intervening distance, I’ve often seen comments on here where I’ve wondered, “Who the heck is this about?”
Love is a many-banded thing.
well, that’s certainly definitive.
There’s going to be people making a bunch of money gold plating the stainless version.
Ok that’s the one I get my girlfriend. She would be very happy both with the look and my good budgeting.
Actual tech critics review the Apple Watch and they hate it! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/03/10/apple-watch-impressions_n_6839070.html?utm_hp_ref=technology And now let’s play Tim’s Greatest Hits once again: iPhone 5C, iOS 8.0.1, Maps, Digital Store Outage Fiasco, Poor Supply of thin edge iMacs and MacPros, Terrible PR Handling of virtually every single debacle the company’s been in, hiring John Browett (remember that guy?!) and many more to come I’m sure… Enjoy the bubble while it lasts ladies and gentlemen. No company is invincible. Not even Apple.
And don’t forget:
– Greatest quarterly revenue for any company in history
– Greatest Market Cap for any company in history
– Greatest number of high end phones sold in any quarter by any company in history
– Greatest growth in computer sales in a year when pc industry is shrinking
Tim is doing rather ok
You’re right… I don’t… but don’t forget on whose watch the products that drove the company to those results were created: One Steven Paul Jobs. Last I checked on the revenue and earnings call they talked about iPhone, Mac, iPod/iPad, Apple Retail, Digital Outlets, etc. And guess what? Apple already said they will not report Apple Watch sales… http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-wont-disclose-apple-watch-sales-2014-10 That’s right! They will bundle them in the ‘Others’ category. Nice vote of confidence.
Ur right. Hadn’t thought about all those faux pas plus the Yosemite roll out with all those connection issues. This new watch sux too, all fat lookin’ and you can’t even swim with it!
If you were to list all of Apple’s products that were universally praised by tech critics when they were released, you could display that list in 12 point type on a 38mm Apple Watch without needing to scroll.
Like analyst’s predictions, the judgements of tech critics almost always end up looking foolish when re-visited a few years later.
And what about critique from these obvious plants from the Buzzfeed video… Shipped straight from L.A. to create this laughable testimonial. “Girl code taken to the next level.” Anybody with half a brain expects us to believe that is real?! I forgot to mention the Beats purchase on my list of current Apple fails. The $3+ billion dollar transaction that the only thing that has brought upon us has been more sub-par, overpriced head phones and a video of drunk rappers dancing on how they ‘stuck it to the man’.
Until one of the late night shows take an iphone and put straps on it and say hey this is the new Apple Watch tell us how you like it and get the same reactions as above! Coming soon to a late night show near you!!
