Apple has already sold some 20 million iPhone 6/Plus units, research shows

“The opening weekend for the iPhone 6 was Apple’s best ever for a new smartphone, with 10 million sold in just three days,” Mark Rogowsky report for Forbes. “Though Apple hasn’t put out any official numbers yet, using data from third parties that track such things, it appears the ‘second 10 million’ iPhone 6 and 6 Pluses are nearly all in the hands of customers.”

“Apple’s rumored goal of delivering 70-80 million iPhones between the launch and the end of the year is moving from abstract to real as the numbers come into focus,” Rogowsky reports. “In that first flurry of sales, Apple didn’t provide a breakdown between the 6 and 6 Plus, but numerous reports confirmed that the latter sold out rather quickly.”

“Over the past two weeks, growth of the 6 and 6 Plus has continued largely unabated. But what appears clear is that Apple still can’t satisfy demand for the Plus,” Rogowsky reports. “The 6 Plus is sold out everywhere.”

    1. Mine is at this moment winging its way from China to Australia, scheduled to arrive on Moday 13th, but hopefully will arrive a day “early” on Friday. Thus, I’ve moved closer to the head of the 3-4 week virtual queue of some 10 million bodies.😊

  1. The 6plus is sold out everywhere. You can buy the 6 directly from Apple, but all other resellers have a HUGE backlog of orders. If you want to buy from Verizon or AT&T (and take advantage of their trade-in promotions) you have to wait about a month for your iPhone 6 to ship. Not the 6plus, just the regular 6. That’s crazy!

Apple seems to be selling quite a few million iPhones.

  2. Received my 6 Plus the same day of sales at stores, & I love it. Glad I made purchase & my battery life is insane. I stream iHeart radio from 10 am until 6 pm & talk on FaceTime Audio for 2 hrs and battery is at 37 percent. WOW!!!

    1. I love my 64gb 6 Plus. However, I wish I was getting battery life as you describe. Maybe because I use it more? I can’t get the battery to last the whole day (18 hours) without keeping it plugged in when I’m at my desk at work.

      1. I suspect people are now expecting someone to pounce on whatever they can when the new iPhones are released to grab headlines, so the illegitimacy of the attack is now pretty transparent. I’m sure the bendygate videos were quite profitable for that YouTube guy, and more than covered the upfront expense of buying the devices to destroy. Unless, of course, done third party simply provided him the devices to destroy so they could create some critical Apple commercials. Naw, who would do that? /s

  3. I’ve seen the 6 everywhere but am yet to see a 6+ in the wild. The dozen or so people I asked said they got the 6 because they thought the 6+ is too big for them. None said they got the 6 because of supply constraints on the 6+. Interesting.

  4. It’s pretty silly how some people feel the need to add “gate” to any real or imagined scandal 😀

After posting this I guess it will be Commentgate 😀
