“US-based tech giant Apple will open its biggest store in the world at Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates,” Neil Churchill reports for EDGARdaily.

“After regional media picked up on UAE-based job advertisements by the Californian company, we have insider knowledge that the Majid Al Futtaim-owned mall will become home to Apple’s first flagship in the Middle East,” Churchill reports. “The store – which will be the biggest Apple has ever built – was originally planned to replace the current cinema complex. 1. If Apple wants more high end customers, then they open more stores.

If Apple wants global markets, then they need to be more comprehensive.

Finally, small markets. Apple concedes smaller markets to Walmart and such. This is tolerable for the short-term but shows indifference to active customers in further-out communities.

  2. Something about me thinks that Dubai would only allow an Apple Store to open there if Apple ensured it was the BIGGEST IN THE WORLD!!

One might think the Sheikh perhaps has some sort of psychological issue about size….

  3. Biggest store ever!

But how many shoppers and sales will it have? I seriously doubt it will be enough to justify the cost of the store. Dubai is famous for being the most beautiful ghost town on the planet. I exaggerate, but it’s more a center of big-is-better, ‘I have a little place in Dubai but I never go there’ nonsense than an actual massive market for Apple gear. Please prove me wrong…

    1. Might be too much of a hassle setting up in the KSA or other Emirates. Dubai is a central location where the wealthy elite can get their Apple fix. Apple will make plenty of $$$ and get local exposure.
