5.5-inch iPhone 6, next-gen iPad mini, iPad Air to enter mass production in September

“According to fresh reports coming from the Chinese media, the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 hasn’t entered its mass production stages just yet, further cementing the theory that the 5.5-inch model will be launched later than the smaller variant,” Mihai Matei reports for G 4 Games. “Whether or not this alleged decision is deliberate remains unknown.”

“The 5.5-inch iPhone is not the only device to have been mentioned in this new report,” Matei reports, “and supposedly, both the next iPad Mini and iPad Air (2) will also enter mass production in September.”

Matei reports, “All that being said, it appears that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 may be the first Apple device from the bunch to see the light of day this year, while its larger siblings could be subjected to a (slightly) pushed back launch.”

  1. Maybe it’s deliberate because the 5.5 inch phone is actually an iPad, one that will come WiFi-only and with telephony. Then Apple won’t have to worry about any cannibalization of their tablet business and will instead return it to growth.
