Is Apple ready to disrupt yet another industry?

“Apple is laying the groundwork to disrupt yet another industry,” Adam Levy writes for The Motley Fool. “The Wall Street Journal reported the Cupertino company is making progress toward a mobile payment solution that would leverage its 575 million-plus credit cards on file through the iTunes store.”

“To put that number in perspective, that’s more than four times the number of active users on eBay’s PayPal,” Levy writes. “Meanwhile, Google’s efforts to break into mobile payments with Android, NFC, and its Google Wallet platform have floundered for years now.”

“Late last year, Apple began rolling out its iBeacon device and capabilities. The platform runs on Bluetooth Low Energy, or BLE, and these iBeacons are capable of sending and receiving information to and from iDevices. As more retailers adopt iDevices, the iBeacon capabilities can be used to direct customers around the store and offer special promotions while gathering data on shopper behavior,” Levy writes. “Perhaps its biggest potential, however, is to facilitate mobile payments.”

  1. Believe it when I see it or ………….use it, hopefully something can make the stock head in the right direction, its been held back and beaten down for a year and a half now.

  2. Yes, Apple is going to be releasing an long awaited upgrade of the reality distortion field, know as the integrity restoration field generator. When turned on people in the area of the field without any integrity will suffer incredible pain. Such a field generator will be banned of course from areas like Whore Street and Warshingtongue.
