“Apple made the iPhone 5s available for in-store pickup on Monday, allowing customers to order their new device online, then collect it from their local Apple retail store later the same day,” Killian Bell reports for Cult of Mac. “But just a day later, the option has already been pulled — probably due to the incredible demand Apple seen for the device since it launched last Friday.”
“With customers having to wait until October for iPhone 5s orders to ship via the Apple online store, in-store pickup was the quickest way to obtain a device, and the easiest way to ensure that your local Apple store would have a unit waiting for you when you went in to purchase one,” Bell reports. “Now that’s no longer the case.”
Bell reports, “It’s unclear at this point why Apple has disabled this service after just one day, but given the incredible demand the Cupertino company has seen for the iPhone 5s since it launched last week, it could be that current stock levels are simply too low to continue offering the in-store pickup option.”

Waited in line for 1/2 hour and a delivery came in. I was in and out but I was trying to reserve a phone for pick up while in line. They just never added the delivery to the store stock. Gave it a try though. Phone is nice and the finger print works pretty darn fast.
True I checked online right as I was speaking with an Apple employee, they never added the new delivery to the store stock.
Still torn on whether to yet this or wait for the 6. At any rate, I would wait until after the holidays, it is madness out there now, and I’m not jumping in the pool with all the sharks 🙂
Got my 5S yesterday at Valley Fair. Glad I don’t have to wait a month.

Checked Monday morning, nothing available.
Checked Monday afternoon, 2:00, Bingo!
Gold, 32GB. This baby is Super Snappy! 😛
Interesting they actually turned this on so soon. I ordered mine online Friday AM and it will be here from China tomorrow. I was originally hoping for same-day store pickup Friday (or maybe Saturday…).
Nice article in San Jose Mercury this morning. Mentions 9 mil, other nice things. Then of course the last paragraph tells us how Apple is doomed anyway. Android is cheaper and has more variety with big screens. And of course declining profits. Every compliment to Apple is always followed by the negatives of analysts. And this is from Apple’s hometown paper. Just sad to see over and over. Cancelled my subscription two years ago, now read it for free online. End of rant.
Sorry to hear that CJ, i have no doubt that the San Jose Mercury have been a target of influence by the android and samsung lot given they are they home paper of Apple, so this is why you see such negative reporting on Apple, i suppose it pays the bills for the newspaper to be pro andried and anti apple. Shame
Bought three 32gb space gray 5S yesterday through the online in store pickup. I ordered them, 10 minutes later got the email that they were ready for pickup. Everything went smoothly up until time I wanted to recycle my old iPhones. They were not prepared for it. This made the whole process very slow. Also AT&T my provider screwed up. Needless to say they need to work some kinks out of the process.
I turned in a 4 and got $122, two 4S and got $204 each. The 5S cost me $325.91 with tax. So my net cost was $203.91 and $121.91 respectively. Not bad. I like the recycle program, assuming they work out the kinks.
