“High Tech Computer (HTC) is reportedly considering adopting Liquidmetal for its new smartphones in the second half of the year and is set to cooperate with Taiwan-based chassis maker Jabon International for related supply,” Aaron Lee and Joseph Tsai report for DigiTimes.
“Since Apple has recently signed another 2-year contract with US-based Liquidmetal Intellectual and started hiring talent with chassis manufacturing expertise, the sources speculate that Apple may adopt Liquidmetal for its new products and HTC is trying to release similar products ahead of Apple,” Lee and Tsai report. “Commenting on the rumors, HTC’s chassis partner Catcher Technology pointed out that it has not heard anything about its client adopting Liquidmetal for smartphone chassis.”

MacDailyNews Take: If so, HTC needs to get a new translator, preferably one who understands the phrase: exclusively licensed on a perpetual basis to Apple for the field of use of consumer electronic products.
