    1. You don’t. Starting with iOS 5, iPads (and iPhones) became independent computers that do not need to be connected to a “big” computer running iTunes, not even once.

If you have things you need to “sync” from a Mac or PC, that is not available through iCloud, then you obviously need iTunes.

  1. NOT GOOD…

The app just put a PDF from my desktop in the Music Library (not kidding)…and will not play a song just purchased. Restarted…no fix. Not good. The note about cryptic notations..yup…they are there…DF16…
    library is trashed.

  2. I have been reading the comments since iTunes 11 was released today and I realize that most of these people are just ignorant coddled babies who are so lazy that they can’t even be bothered to READ. It’s truly depressing.

Comments which should really read “OMG! I have had this POS piece of software for a whole 12 seconds and I can’t find how to create a genius playlist! WTF?!?.”

Bunch of whiny little children. Instant gratification happens to those who take the time to LEARN on their own.

  3. I am really disappointed with 2 things.
    1. They removed the slide bar you can drag to increase or decrease album art size!!
    2. Clicking Artists lists them down the left side instead of a screen full of album art work where you can set the default album cover to show.

  4. I like new design. but it has a big problem. whenever I try to check my playlist to sync, it is frozen like hell. it doesn’t move at all. suddenly, itunes 11 is stopped working. it is only happened to music. movie, TV show, podcast are fine. I think that apple even didn’t polish it even they had two months long. what did they do? it’s basic issue when software is made. apple even didn’t recognize it? they need a patch right now. otherwise, I will go back to itunes 10.7. sucks, apple. oh, apple is over.

  5. What about the genius song suggestions that you could listen to directly in iTunes, and then buy them if you like them? Is that still available? The thing that helped you discover new music not on your computer. . . .

  6. Blows! And sucks!
Disappointing crap. They have done NOTHING to improve the user experience with this release.
You thought the Maps app was a mess… this is equally as bad.

  7. Yuck!!! Wish I had not updated!! Gimme back my album art in the sidebar and volume meter in the mini-player. I don’t want a popup window to see where the volume is at. You must now right-click the song playing to jump to the song in your playlist/library and the song is no longer highlighted. Move that white bar in the playlist window back to the bottom. Well I’m off to do a system restore! Goodbye iTunes 11!

  8. iTunes 11 sucks! The UI looks like it’s made for a third grader. The color scheme is horrible. Sidebar is the best thing about iTunes so I’m glad they kept that. Who the heck wants to toggle a drop down menu to change media…dumb. Sidebar has everything all in one easy to reach, out in the open place.

  9. Search Library is too damn slow! It looks like they added a key listener, so it’s trying to refine/redo the search as you type each character, and (re)build this useless pop up list with graphics on each key press, and it bogs the whole thing down – at least in Windows 7.

  10. Are you kidding? iTunes 11 looks like it was designed by a four-year old. After the first time he was forced out, Jobs brought Apple back from the brink of bankruptcy when nobody believed they could be saved. Now that he’s dead, Apples is making the very same hair-brained mistakes that they made the last time they were on top. How easily the mighty have fallen. I give Apple five years before they’re out of business. It looks like I’ll be switching back to PCs from my Mac and changing my plans to upgrade to an iPad 4 with plans for a Surface Pro. Farewell Apple, it was nice while it lasted.
