Steve Jobs’ yacht ‘Venus’ unveiled in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands (with video)

“Earlier this year, it was revealed that French designer Philippe Starck was working with Dutch shipbuilder Feadship on a new yacht for the family of Steve Jobs,” Eric Slivka reports for MacRumors. “The yacht had been mentioned in Walter Isaacson’s biography of Jobs as a project he had been working on since 2009, but the ship was not completed before his death last year.”

“Dutch site One More Thing now reports [Google translation] that the ship, christened “Venus”, has officially launched, with Jobs’ widow Laurene Powell Jobs and their three children participating in the event,” Slivka reports. “The aluminum-hulled ship is said to be 70-80 meters in length and features seven 27-inch iMacs lined up in the wheelhouse to help run the controls.”

  1. Click the link below the video. The workers got a ‘Thank You’ and iPod shuffles?

Pretty lame, you commission a floating phallus, spend wasteful amounts of money on it and you tip the craftsman with the cheapest iPod made?

I mean really, I am sure they were expecting nothing (the workers) but if you are going to take the time to make a gesture to someone, don’t just go through the motions and do something tacky and cheap. Give em iPhones or new touches or something. Clearly money is NOT an obstacle, taste, well that is another story.

  2. When I first saw some of the new Cadillacs I thought “What are those weird looking boxes”, then I actually started seeing them and they looked pretty damn good after awhile. With this iShip it’s probably the same thing, boy it looks like something you would buy from IKEA.

Samsung, quickly copy that and make a Titanic based on it.

  3. If you look at the two roofs, one on top of the other, they look like the profile of original iPads face down. Note also the radar domes are concealed somewhat to give a “clean” look.
