RUMOR: Apple ordering large number of carbon fiber parts for new mystery product

“Apple is said to have ordered a large number of parts made of carbon fiber, hinting that a new product may be made of the durable-yet-lightweight material,” AppleInsider reports.

AppleInsider reports, “Information on what Apple apparently ordered is unknown, but the source reportedly said that the number of parts ordered by Apple are too great to be called simply a ‘sample.'”

    1. YES. The rumor mill for the next iPhone (5S? or 6?) is already behind schedule! The iPhone 5 has been shipping for a week and people have had them in hand for five days already! Where are my “next iPhone” rumors? I’m going through withdrawal here!

  2. I didn’t know carbon fiber, CF, was durable. I just thought it was strong and lite.

Production samples doesn’t mean anything. I’m sure Apple requests dozens of materials samples every month. Further, CF comes in rolls or sheets. You have to make your own mold then autoclave it.
