13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display benchmarks appear, launch rumored before October

“Test results for an unreleased ‘MacBookPro10,2’ model first appeared in Geekbench logs in late June. The authenticity of the listing, which was brought to AppleInsider‘s attention on Tuesday, cannot be verified,” AppleInsider reports.

“It shows that a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8 Build 12A2056 uploaded Geekbench data on June 29. The machine was running an Intel Core i7-3520M Ivy Bridge processor clocked at 2.9 gigahertz,” AppleInsider reports. “Evidence of a new 13-inch MacBook Pro comes as a report from DigiTimes on Tuesday claimed that upstream component suppliers are preparing to provide parts to Apple for a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display in the third quarter of 2012. Citing anonymous sources in the supply chain, the report said it is believed the new MacBook Pro could launch before October.”

MacDailyNews Take: Hoo boy, that one’d sorely tempt us – almost as much as an 11-inch MacBook Air with Retina display (which we most certainly would not be able to resist).

      1. Not so fast, M. progressiveagentprovocateur is entitled to his/her opinion, regardless of whether or not it makes any sense. There is no reason to drop the troll bomb just because of illogic.

Seriously, progressiveagentprovocateur, your decision on a computer platform is primarily driven by a glued-in battery? Batteries have not been removable in Apple laptops since the advent of the unibody design. But gluing the battery in place is your breaking point? Have fun with Dell, dude. Hack to your desire.

    1. You might as well go windows (or even better: Debian) the Hacintoshes remove one of the primary reasons we use Mac’s as out primary workstations. They are reliable, they don’t require constant fiddling and updates (both system and application) don’t constantly cause problems. Unfortunately with a “hackintosh” problems is all you are going to see. Audio & video drivers not working properly, applications not functioning properly, constant hacking and fiddling just to get it working again after updates.
Nope that is not a Mac, if you want a (constant) project: Debian is likely your best bet.

    2. The “glued in” battery has ben proven to not be an issues and can be easily and cheaply replaced if it is. All laptops are going this way so get used to it troll.

  1. Hmmm…that one would fit in my custom dual 13″ MBP flight case. Very tempting. Then I could relegate my WhiteBook to backup of a backup status and move my 2011 MBP to backup status.

  2. Hmmm very tempting. My brother just bought a MacBook Pro retina display. It’s his diets Mac ever!!
After all these years of me badgering him to get a Mac. 🙂 I’m telling you the iPhone iPad iPod is the gateway drug. I’m proud of him. 🙂 its been since 1988 when I got my first Mac. SE 2/20 with 2 MB or Ram.

Proud to say I’ve never owned a windoze
    computer.

  3. MDN Take FTW.

11″ macAir – the suped up one- is Th.e best laptop I’ve ever own3d. I’d upgrade to the retina display for sure.. I’d just say- graphic intensive apps kill the battery on em pretty quick.

Eve online- for example- will kill it after an hour- forget about rendering on it unless you are plugged in. For travel- there is no equal, however. I also would like to see the 11″ go touch screen as well 😀
