Is this Apple’s next iPhone? Renderings, video based on leaked parts (with video)

Bryce Haymond of Blackpool Creative writes, “There’s been quite a bit of hype recently in the Apple universe over the imminent announcement of a new iPhone, or rather the new iPhone (aka iPhone 5).”

“Many of the biggest media outlets have already published photos and videos of ‘leaked’ parts that are supposedly from the iPhone 5 as it makes its way into the manufacturing phase at Apple’s suppliers,” Haymond writes. “I thought it would be fun to piece together these fragments to see what the iPhone 5 might look like when Apple makes the big announcement.”

“After I did these renderings, more video came out that shows no mic hole on the top bezel, so that detail is wrong. It was likely just moved from the top to the back between the camera and flash,” Haymond explains. “There also appears to be plastic rings around the headphone jack and dock port at the bottom of the phone, which I did not include in my model. The SIM slot also appears to be less wide than I show. It’s also unclear yet as to whether the buttons on the black iPhone will be the same black anodized color, or remain silver. I kept them silver.

Along with a .zip file of high res images, Haymond also put a video up on YouTube:

  1. Could be true, though with glass-plastic insets this small, I am not sure how well this phone would deal with 3G and 4G connections.

So first we will have to see if this is an actual production variant, and then wait for AnandTech tests of cell network stability.

  2. If this really is “the New iPhone”, the amount of metal/glass on the back is irrelevant. Remember, the iP4 started the ‘frame-is-the-antenna’ thing. Not sure why people are so stupid re: Apple stuff.

    1. Steven wanted to go with metal back for iPhone 4 from very beginning. However, after tests, they had to cancel this variant and use glass for the back plate.

So the amount of metal on the back is hugely relevant.

  3. One needs only, a CAD model to produce an actual TIN METAL prototype. And the same 3D model is easy to render a fly-by too. What wonders we have here.

  4. No way the glass protrudes on the front like an iPhone 4, but is smooth and beveled on the back. This guy’s a designer? Who thinks that looks good? I’ll bet a dollar to donuts that the front is smooth like the back or even the tiniest bit inset to better protect the glass. Remember, we’re talking about the design that will be selling new through late 2014.

  5. Why is the design based off of the ‘antennaband’? With the ‘seperators’ no less. If the band and backplate are welded together they would seem useless.
The strip of glass above seems too to tight for the camera lens (the lens and line of the corner of the iphone follow perfectly… Weird how the plate breaks that line.
But back to the band. That colouring has me doubting: aluminium can be infused by colour while anodising it seems, which make it a very durable finish.
The iPhone band on the other hand is stainless steel for ‘conductivity’, which you CAN anodize and color, BUT is not as durable. All Google knowledge is should mention.
The big speakerholes with a lot of space between, the indistinguishable apple logo, the big hole for what should be mini-usb, the lettering, are more things to ponder when deciding if this is the real thing or a decoy…

    Just my 2 cents…
