“Consumer Intelligence Research Partners released a report on Monday, revealing new details about users who bought an iPhone following the launch of the new iPhone 4S last October,” Neil Hughes reports for AppleInsider. “Among those surveyed, 21 percent of iPhone 4S buyers opted for the high-end 64GB model, Apple’s highest-ever capacity for a smartphone model.”
“CIRP previously found that 18 percent of iPhone buyers at the iPhone 4S launch were switching from other platforms, like Android, BlackBerry or Palm,” Hughes reports. “But that number only grew as 2011 drew to a close, with 36 percent of buyers coming from competing platforms.”
Hughes reports, “The data comes from a survey of customers that purchased an iPhone in October, November and December of 2011. From an initial response of 6,316 subjects, CIRP surveyed 365 qualified people for its analysis.”

My next phone will have 64GB too, so I can load the Garman GPS app with maps and avoid those huge out of country roaming charges.
I got the 64GB version, which I need due to the size of my audio library, finally able to have everything on it! Plus, Siri is really useful!
Part of the reason I skipped the iPhone 4 was because I wanted more storage than 32GB. Once the 4S was announced I pounced on the 64GB and got it the day it came out. You can never have enough storage space.
My old 32gb iPhone 4 was just fine for me.
Until I realized I had almost 20gb in apps!!!
So now I have a 64gb 4S.
My music library is small on the iPhone, maybe 5gb total. I toss all my music on my 16gb iPod nano, still have room left over…
Pics, some audio, and some very big apps… I need the space.

I’m hoping for 128Gb on the next iPhone. I’ve currently got 102Gb in iTunes, and my iPhone 4 has 11Gb of apps, including CoPilot Live and half of the UK as 1:50k and 1:25k Ordnance Survey maps, and I’d like to install the rest.
Oh, and a mate has over 200Gb in iTunes…
I’ve discovered that apps are almost useless in an iPhone. It’s a battery management issue. The more apps you run, the less time to depletion the battery lasts. There’s only two ways out of this. Carry a charger with you in hopes of finding an outlet when you need it or buy a Mophie Juice Pack, neither of which is ideal.
The problem stems from a battery that’s too weak to do the job it was designed for. So either enlarge the frame to accommodate a 4.5″ screen and a bigger battery or make a fatter device. I think slim with bigger screen would be the better of the two. As it is making it through the day with 3G enabled, Wifi enabled, Bluetooth enabled, Location services enabled and just making calls, surfing the net and doing emails is a stretch. That’s not including playing games on the device which is frankly becoming a pain on 3.5″ screen.
I just read heard at MDN that Apple has a better batter in the work. Apple always seems to have the best bleeding edge products available. They will stick with the present size since it is selling well and there is no compelling reason for a bigger screen size or thicker iPhone. 🙂
