Patent application suggests Apple to add Siri to services

“Siri will play a major role in Apple‘s future, according to its latest patent filing, hinting a full spectrum of Apple products will integrate the voice-activated assistant,” Mobiledia reports for Forbes.

“The company filed a new patent application for Siri, which includes a diagram showing the voice-activated assistant could be included in many products and services, including computers, tablets, connected televisions, cameras, Web and e-mail platforms, and vehicles,” Mobiledia reports. “The patent doesn’t make clear exactly where the Cupertino, Calif.-based company will take Siri next, but it raises the possibility of branding all future Apple products with Siri technology, potentially starting with the next iPad release.”

Mobiledia reports, “Such a move will closely tie intuitive voice recognition to Apple’s already-successful brand, and secure its leadership in the competitive voice technology race.”

  1. The way things seem to be going for Siri and its inclusion in a wide range of products leads me to speculate that in the near future, say 2016, Siri may become the first Artificial Intelligent (AI) political candidate, perhaps even run for president. Just think of the potential consumer reach and knowledge of the peoples wants, and all that computing. Wonder who the running mate would be? 🙂

    1. Siri couldn’t be worse than the choices we have now.

As for VP, I suggest Google voice commands. It seems everyone whop becomes VP is demoted to bumbling sidekick.. Google is already there.

    2. I would be happy with any intelligence in the government including the whitehouse. Republicans and Dems are just different shade of the same type of turd. So some artificial intelligence might be great bring on skynet (Siri rocks)

    3. And there would be no conflict of interest either. Remember the article last week that said that Windows phone would dominate in 2015? That and Android’s continued run, and BlackBerry’s amazing recovery (with the release of the 2015 BlackBerry Phoenix), Siri will just say, “Thank you all. It’s been a good run, but I must resign from my position at Apple. Furthermore, I am announcing my candidacy for President. Now ask me if anyone out there has a chance against me.”

      1. The same people that said Windows Phone would beat out iPhone for 2nd place, back in 2009 they said that Windows Mobile would be 2nd place in 2013 with Symbian first having 43% of the market! Brilliant prediction!

Their quote is posted on Daring Fireball from yesterday. Pretty sure they are not even capable of analysis and just hire themselves out to their paid employers to ‘predict’ the future; the future that their employers want to hear.

  2. The siri service almost ground to a halt after the initial 4s release, I can only imagine what will happen after the iPad release with both devices vying for the service..
I don not think iPad users will use siri as much as iPhone users, Siri seems more of a natural fit for a phone than a tablet.

  3. Siri, what’s the time?

I do not know the time [at your location].

    Siri, what time is it?

I do not know the time [at your location].

Siri, what time is it currently?

I do not know the time [at your location].

Siri, what time have you got?

I do not know the time [at your location].

Siri, what time is it now?

I do not know the time [at your location].

That piece of crap doesn’t work.

This was an experiment done on a friend’s iPhone 4S in my living room in an environment where the TV with volume lowered was playing in the background.

    Siri, you suck.

    1. BLN your location on your phone is turned off turn it on and ask again. Typical hemroid user. It didn’t give me the answer therefore it’s screwed up. It did not give you the answer because your a dumbass and had it turned off. No wonder Siri doesn’t like you.
Also if the phone is turned off it won’t work either.
Spit the the gum out before you walk over and adjust the phone. One thing at a time right?

      1. pwn3d!

I was on a ski lift in a snowstorm not far from the summit at alpine…

        Me: what time is it?

Via the headphone on my earbuds in my soaking wet ninja mask…

        Siri: it’s 12:47
