“Thieves stole at least 125 Apple iPads from a Best Buy electronics store in San Carlos Thursday night, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office,” CBS San Francisco reports.
“Deputies reported to the store at 1127 Industrial Road at about 11:50 p.m., one minute after the commercial alarm began sounding when the suspects pried open the store’s front doors and a security roll-up door, according to the sheriff’s office,” CBS SF reports. “The deputies determined that the suspects slid under the jacked-up security gate and dragged a large locked steel rack containing the 125 tablet computers through a fire exit door and onto a vehicle.”
CBS SF reports, “Sheriff’s officials said the loss to the store is estimated to be more than $100,000.”

Maybe Apple should turn on “find my iPad ” at the factory
It would be interesting to know whether the Serial Numbers from all of the stolen iPads are known – either by Apple or Best Buy. If so, they should prove helpful in tracking down the thiefs once the iPads are registered by the customers who are sold the stolen merchandise.
We have a winner. They certainly are known. The real fun has yet to begin.

Except that it lacks the “buy” part.
No one will steal a Kindle, Playbook, Samsung, whatever. They are all POS products. The only thing worth stealing is the iPad. Sadly this theft confirms which products have real value.
The cops showed up 1 minute after the alarm went off and the theives were already gone with the rack of iPads? Can you say “inside job”?
