China Unicom: Network permit is all we need to start selling Apple’s iPhone 4S

“Today, China Unicom told the local media that the company is prepared to introduce the iPhone 4S and is only waiting for its network access certificate from authorities,” Chris Chang reports for M.I.C. Gadget. “China Unicom’s sales executive Yu Yingtao told the Chinese news website Sina Tech: ‘We will start sales once we get the certificate from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). It’s not up to us. We’ve already done all of our preparations, we’re just waiting on the permit.'”

Chang reports, “While China Unicom is waiting for MIIT to issue the network permit for the iPhone 4S, some regional branches of the company have started advance bookings for the 4S.”
