MacDailyNews reader Eyal Amir (Project RnL) has shared with us a new video he just released.
It’s an arrangement of the Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera hit “Moves Like Jagger,” but played entirely on Apple iPads, using the new Jordan Rudess’ GEO Synthesizer (US$9.99) app that just hit Apple’s iTunes App Store.
The song is performed by Eyal Amir, Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) and jazz vocalist and composer Tammy Scheffer.
Incredible
This will sweep the music industry within a day…twitter on.
This is only cool because it is played on the iPad. The band sucks.
Please post a video of you and your band, won’t you?
Thought so…
Fuck off. A person not in a band can still say that a band is shit. Idiot.
Really? Based on what criteria? You’d have to have zero musical ability and knowledge not to understand the kind of ability it takes to do what these guys did. Tammy Scheffer’s voice control alone is astounding. If you can’t hear that and all the other subtleties in the music, you can’t say shit.
????
Well, let’s see; the musicians have some serious skill and talent. The musical arrangement is done very skillfully, with some quite inventive re-harmonisations and polyrhythmic patterns. Compared to the bland, cookie-cutter, run-of-the-mill contemporary pop package of the original, this is by far more creative, inventive, original and musically engaging. Not to mention that it was done entirely on iPads.
As for that last part, GarageBand has been capable of doing precisely the same thing (albeit with different virtual control surfaces) since it came out. Not having my own iPad, whenever I’m in an Apple Store, I make it a point to spend some 15 minutes with the GarageBand and whip up a tune (instrumental, of course). For professional musicians, the app is such a joy to work with.
TOTALLY AGREE
Someone a few weeks ago released a whole album made with the iPad, or at least a good portion of it.
I remember hearing about it just not who it was.
Apparently no one ever told these people that iDevices are for consumption only.
Never heard the song before this. This is just plain silly. I lost interest about half way through. Great arrangement though. It makes me wonder about playing music on a flat surface. These guys are very good musicians and there is no shortcut to being a good musicians. Sorry… Next!
Must suck to find anything good on YouTube, then.
He’s just jealous he didn’t think of it first.
And just think, Steve didn’t want there to be user developed Apps until the world whined puh-lease Steve.
Seems like they are trying to do a Pomplamoose thing, like Microsoft tries to do a . . .
Anyway, this has a horrible Jazz undertone, meets muzak, meets enya. But nice work, i guess, if that’s your type of thing.
And, Unibrows, srsly?!
Are you for real?
Rudess is one of the greatest musicians of our time… and makes wonderful apps which they use here.
Nothing you said makes any sense… Music-wise, this is so good Prog. Has nothing to do with any of the music genres you mentioned.
Check out RNL project to see how good Eyal Amir work is. And the guy has unibrows… I can’t believe you actually criticizing this. He’s not a pop star that has nothing else but looks, he makes music.
Nice, though I felt time warped with all the synth sounds.
Seriously??? All the guys criticising this! quite funny…since the main guy playing in this is from the world renowned progressive rock bank DreamTheater! oh and btw…the genre is prog rock…not muzak or jazz undertones – it’s just pure prog. I’m honestly astonished at the lack of musical knowledge or taste here…so much for apple fans being educated in the liberal arts!
I liked the whole performance, arrangement and video style.
I think Tammy has a great voice and I will check to see if her music is on iTunes.
