My 13″ air has been getting the multi-language grey screen of death about once per day when waking up from sleep. I wonder if/hope this will fix it!
That sounds so Microsoft Windowesque.. Gray screen of death can’t be good
That’s a kernel panic. Unless you’ve done some seriously hacky stuff to your system, a kernel panic is a sign of a hardware malfunction. If I were you, I’d make an appointment at my nearest Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
Downloaded and applied.. now my Macbook pro is taking forever to wake up and keyboard is flaky. Is anyone else having issues?
My MBP update was problem free.
something went a little funky when I was downloading the MacBook Air firmware update. Where do I find my firmware number?
I wasn’t paying attention during a bunch of updates just now, so did not know whether the firmware update was included, so I checked my Boot ROM version. It is different from the one that is supposed to be there after the firmware update. Went to the Apple site and downloaded the firmware update, tried to apply it, but was told it was not supported on my system. I do have a mid-2011 MBA, so not sure what’s going on. Maybe it has not come to Japan yet?
No problem. Called Apple support in Japan. Nice folks here. Firmware update was applied after all.
When it comes to OS-related software updates, whether Mac or PC, my operating rule is, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
With your mentality, you should stick with Mac OS 9.1.2. There is always a risk of problems, but there is always benefits. If you don’t apply this and you own one of the supported Macs, you could run in to trouble, because it is broke.
Pen and paper never got any error screens, so I assume you use that right?
