Apple: The world’s #1 mobile computing company

“Apple achieved record Mac sales in its just-gone quarter — combine portable Mac and iPad sales and there’s no doubt Apple is the world’s leading mobile device company,” Jonny Evans reports for Computerworld.

“What could Apple do next?” Evans wonders.

Traditionally Apple doesn’t diversify too fast, but it could conceivably offer up (this list is speculation, it is not to be taken as fact):

• The iPad Pro/HD: A powerful iPad with an A6 processor and a higher-resolution screen. Perhaps capable of running pro-apps, perhaps even Mac apps.
• The iPad touch: An iPad with a smaller, 7-inch screen.
• The iPad max: A 15-inch iPad. Some may suggest the MacBook Air is this.

    1. Hey MDN – isn’t this the same kind of rumor-spreading you were whining about after the iPhone 4S event?

Aren’t you guilty of spreading the same wacky and unrealistic rumors you spent so much time complaining that Apple should have been somehow “controlling” better?

If you don’t want crazy Apple rumors to devalue your precious Apple stock, here’s a free tip: DON’T PUBLISH CRAZY APPLE RUMORS ON YOUR OWN #$@#% SITE!!

  1. Oh my… Will people stop with the different screen sizes already?! That just leads to confusion and buyer’s remorse. It also makes App development/management a nightmare across the board.

It’s typical salesman mentality… Make three versions and you sell three times as many. If only the world worked like that.

  2. Lots of guessing so he can brag about it if something close to one of them later comes true.

Oh and BTW – Apple will NEVER release a product called iPad max. I don’t need to explain why.

  3. He’s basically right. Over time, Apple will add other options in terms of screen size/power. Not a LOT of options, as in Dell. But Apple doesn’t just have just one laptop size or one desktop size, so there’s no reason to think it will stick with just one “pad” size (or just two sizes, counting the iPod touch).

    1. I agree with you. I would welcome a 12 to 15 inch iPad able to run iOS AND OSX, probably combined into a hybrid. It would be great for art etc. it would be inplace of a laptop or desktop.

I see the additional larger sizes as a natural evolution for iPad.

Their is no reason not to think the iPad form factor will also be available as a desktop replacement in the 20 to 28 inch size.

Then their may also be larger iPads as information screens eg arrivals and departures and lots more.

The current size will also remain available as part of the line up.
I hope this inclusion of a larger size begins soon.

With all due respect to the doubters, I wouls suggest that if you don’t see the usefulness of larger sized iPads, then you don’t fully understand the huge potential of the iPad.

The iPad is the near future of personal computing.

Think of a Macbook Air without the keyboard to get the concept.

      “You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet”!
