On “The Colbert Report,” Stephen Colbert said, “Apple co-founder Steve Jobs passed away [Wednesday]. He was a visionary who changed the way we use computers [shows Mac onscreen], listen to music [iPod], communicate [iPhone], and stay awake in meetings [iPad].”
“But the thing I will miss [the most],” Colbert said, “is that no on else could make me beg quite like him.”
Colbert then played a montage of him begging for an iPhone and then, later, an iPad and reported, “It’s a testament to Steve Jobs’ generosity and my celebrity that everything I asked for, I got!”
On “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart was much more subdued, saying, “I always thought, for him to die young, it seems so strange because other people of his magnitude, like Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, you sort of feel like we wrung everything out of them – they were old when they died – but with Steve Jobs you really got the sense, ‘Ahhh, we’re not done with you, yet!'”

I saw them both last night, very cool
My eyes are still moist two days later.
I’m kind of like Jon Stewart: Steve’s gone. Now what? Who’s gonna lead us into the future now? Are the aliens gonna have to land and do it? ‘Cause I can’t think of a single “mere mortal” who can.
Sigh.
Peace.
Ditto on the moist eyes. Can you think of anyone else, other than a relative, you would have shed so many tears? To love this guy you didn’t know like a friend and brother? As the Wizard of Oz said to the Tin Man: “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.”
I don’t think it’s sunk in yet what a special privileged time it was we witnessed when Jobs was with us and what we’ll miss now, a giant hole, that he’s no longer here. I still can’t wrap my head around a world without Steve Jobs. Is this some cruel joke?
These guys always know how to do it. Both genuinely touching and humorous. Good stuff. Still can’t believe SJ is gone. So sad.
Videos won’t work outside the US thanks to the Hulu Fun Police.
Still makes me tear up, two days later.
Agreed, my sadness hasn’t abated even a little bit.
BTW I love the Apple Logo with Steve, and think it should be used Exclusively on the iPhone 4S. It’s a nice extension of the empty seat at the news conference.
Damn you MDN! That Steven Colbert clip made me cry at the end.
I second that.
Please do not link to Hulu because it is US only.
Colbert’s Wednesday night sign off, simply standing up his iPhone on the desk, was a quiet, yet poignant tribute.

“The light that burns twice as bright, burns half as long.” And you have burned so very, very brightly, Steve. R.I.P.
Wow, the Steven Colbert video really got to me. Was bummed yesterday, but what Colbert did at the end with the return email made me choke up. =(
My favorite SJ story so far was in the Onion. The headline reads, “Last American who knew what the fuck he was doing dies”
A lot of truth in that jest I think
Same here, seeing the clips made me cry. I usually never cry. Life without SJ is going to be really hard. Please God, send us someone else!
I thought THE ONION had it right:
