iPhone 4S with iPhone 4 design, dual-mode capability leaked by iTunes beta

“Inside the latest iTunes beta is a specific mention of the ‘iPhone 4S,'” Mark Gurman reports for 9 to 5 Mac.

“Along with the new iPhone name of “iPhone 4S” comes an image, and it is of a CDMA iPhone 4,” Gurman reports. “Unless Apple still has the CDMA iPhone 4 as a placeholder image until the new iPhone is announced, we’re fairly confident that the iPhone 4S will pack the CDMA iPhone design.”

Gurman reports, “The new iPhone will likely feature the dual-core A5 processor from the iPad 2, and eight megapixel camera, 1GB of RAM, Nuance-based speech-to-text Dictation, and the breakthrough Assistant feature based on Apple’s purchase of Siri.”

  1. It’s just as likely that the image is a place holder image, as the article ponders.

There could still e a redesigned iPhone 5 and a phone for the prepaidn market. There could also be an iPod Touch phone.

  2. 4G Newton phone. It’s the secret that Apple doesn’t want leaked out but I know somebody. Forget your 4S and 5. The 4G Newton phone will be the stunner at the big event Tuesday. Has a built in transporter (version 6)! Don’t pay any attention to the rumors that are coming out every 5 minutes, this is the real story. Remember it’s the 4G Newton phone. Get ready!

  3. If this is true, get ready for two things: (1) profound disappointment and (2) a big AAPL collapse. If all they are going to do is upgrade the cpu and camera, well forget it. Oh, I’m sure Tim will emphasize how much better the antenna works and that you don’t need a case to make the new 4S work. Yeah… that’ll get the lines formed.

      1. Currently testing an iPhone 4 for work. We have Blackbery phones now and are replacing them. Hate to say it, but there are places where I have bars and absolutely no connectivity with the iPhone; the Blackberry continues to function. Both are on the Verizon network.
Don’t disregard what you are truly ignorant about, just because others do.
