Purported iPhone 5 screen protectors show elongated home button area

“Ukwire.hk offers the first look at a screen protector that has been designed for the iPhone 5. The screen protector shows off the elongated home button seen in the leaked design document,” Arnold Kim reports for MacRumors.

“A second shot shows how much bigger the screen protector is than the current generation iPhone 4,” Kim reports. “While we’ve seen a number of purported iPhone 5 case designs in the past, none had shown the front of the device. The elongated home button area design, however, was shown in leaked design documents… Despite all these case designs emerging from China, we should remind our readers that all these cases have been sourced from a common leaked design document.”

  1. I call SHENANIGANS!! There is no hole for the front-facing camera. I thought maybe it could be in the corner where the tab is, but I think the right place for a FaceTime camera is centered. But I see no hole in the given photo, so I’m not buying this one…

    1. Good catch. I totally concur with you, although I’m not as sharp and would not have caught that the way you did.

I do believe the iPhone5 will be a tad wider and longer and a lot thinner though. If it were only 4G! I’m not moving away from my iPhone4 until they graduate from 3G to 4G or whatever is better and next.

        1. Noooo, the elongated hole is for the second button which is a release for the iPhone 5’s pop-up, front facing camera. Sigh!

It could also be a screen protector for one of the many other iPhone wanna-be’s.

  2. The only reason I can see having an elongated home button would it to be touch sensitive and can be used to swipe between screens where appropriate. This would reduce the number of finger touches to the screen.
